Dubai, Apr 28: As part of their silver jubilee celebrations, Mangalore Konkans Dubai, in association with Chilly Willy will present 'Culinary & Creativity Skills - 2013' contest at 'Karama Hotel, Karama, Dubai on Friday May 24, 4 pm to 7:30 pm.

Rules & Regulations (General):

- This contest is open to  Konkani speaking Mangaloreans residing in the UAE.
- Limited number of entries on a first come first served basis. (Please note that you will deprive an enthusiastic participant from competing in case you register and do not show up).
- Entrance fee to the venue of cookery contest is Dh10 per person.
- Participant should be of age 12 years & above.
- Participation per person is restricted to one category only. Professional chefs are not allowed to participate.
- Reporting time is 4 pm. Judging commences at 5 pm. All arrangements to be done before 5:00 p.m.
- Judging will be based on taste, aroma, creativity and presentation. Judges have the right to question any participant on the preparation of item in any category. Winners may be asked to demonstrate their skills.
- Products of Chilly Willy to be included in the preparation wherever possible.
- While preparing the items, healthy food element should be considered (example, less oil, whole meal bread as against white bread etc.)
- Two copies of the printed recipe to be brought to the venue. (One copy to be displayed with the presented item and another copy to be handed over to the organizers).
- Judges decision is final and the organizers will not entertain any query on Judges’ decision during or after the competition.
 

Rules & Regulations (Categorywise):

1. Appetizer / Starter :

- Quantity prepared should be for 4 persons
- Item to be displayed within the provided space (Approx.1 x1 Ft.)
 

2. Mangalorean Meal

- Meal to include best Mangalorean combination of one Main Dish (Veg /Non-Veg), One Rice or Rice/wheat item, - One dry vegetable or salad.
- Meal prepared should be enough for 2 persons.
- Meal to be displayed within the provided space (Approx.2 x2 Ft.)
- Judgment will be based on the entire meal experience and not on an individual item.
 

3. On the spot Fruit & Vegetable carving

- Preparation : On the spot
- Duration : 1 hour 30 minutes
- Small fruits & vegetables to be used e.g. Tomato, Potato, Carrot, Cucumber, Chilly, Spring Onions, Turnips, Capsicums, Lime, Orange, Apple etc.(Items to be washed and brought).
- Minimum items to be carved and displayed : 6.
- Items used to be peeled, carved and decorated/displayed/presented on the spot at the venue.
- Bowl of cold water shall be provided.
- Carving and presentation to be done within the space provided (Approx. 2 x 2 ft.)
- Judgment will be based on carving skills, variety, creativity, originality and presentation.
 

4. Chutney

- Quantity prepared should be for 4 persons
- Item to be displayed within the provided space (Approx.1 x1 ft)
