India, Iran discuss Afghanistan, ink 3 MoUs


Tehran, May 4 (IANS): India and Iran Friday discussed the developing situation in Afghanistan and agreed to remain in regular contact.

The two sides also inked three MoUs during the 17th meeting of the Iran-India Joint Economic Commission which is being held here May 3-5.

Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid and his Iranian counterpart Ali-Akbar Salehi also discussed the Chabahar port project.

Describing Iran as one of India's biggest partners, Khurshid said the joint economic commission was an opportunity to expand bilateral relations particularly in the economic and industrial fields, reported Iran's Press TV.

Referring to the two countries' trade and economic relations and India's need for Iranian oil, Khurshid expressed hope that the volume of bilateral commercial trade would increase by increasing the volume of export and imports,
