Udupi: Miscreants throw beer bottles on Uchila mosque premises

Udupi, May 7: On Sunday May 5, at around 8.45 pm, some unidentified miscreants threw beer bottles on the premises of a mosque but the matter was quickly resolved.

The incident occurred on the premises the Madrasa in Bhaskar Nagar, Uchila, when the students in the Madrasa were about to leave the after performing their prayers. The miscreants tossed the bottles near the students and fled the spot. The bottles shattered into pieces but fortunately no student was hurt.

Learning about this incident, several people gathered at the spot.  When the incident was about to take a turn for the worst, JD(S) leader Deviprasad Shetty and Congress leader M A Gaffoor pacified the crowd and demanded that the police take severe action against those responsible.

When the youth decided to hold a protest against this, Kaup police circle inspector Shivanand Walekar assured them of the arrest of the miscreants within two days and thereby brought the situation under control.
