Beltangady: Fire at Ujire inflicts damage of Rs 15 lac

Beltangady, May 7: After accidental fire broke out in a shop at Ujire in the taluk on the night of Sunday May 6, the owner of the shop lost around Rs 15 lac.

Fire brigade personnel from Dharmasthala succeeded in ensuring that the fire did not spread to nearby establishments. In a complaint delivered to the fire brigade, owner of the shop, Sadashiva Rao, said that Rs 48,000 in cash, provisions and other items, computer, show case, furniture and other things totally valued at about Rs 15 lac were reduced to ashes in the tragedy.

Policemen from Beltangady station came on the scene and helped in managing the situation.
