Mangalore, May 8: The contest between BJP’s Krishna Palemar, a seasoned politician and former minister, and B Mohiuddin Bava of the Congress in Mangalore (north) assembly constituency saw a seesaw battle since the beginning of the counting process today.

Krishna Palemar held on to his lead for a considerably long period, before certain booths proved to be totally favourable to the Congress candidate.

The victory margin is around 2,000. The fact that Vijay Kumar Shetty, who was a strong contender for the Congress ticket from this constituency, had revolted against the party’s decision to allot ticket to businessman and KPL team owner, B A Mohiuddin Bava, had given rise to jitters in Congress camp.

With the efforts of senior leaders like Janardhan Poojary, the flaring tempers died down, and Shetty agreed to work for the victory of Congress candidate.  The timely mediation by the Congress leaders to nip the revolt in the bud perhaps paved way for the victory of Bava.

Bava had earlier fought the election and lost, and several Congress activists had voiced their concern about his candidature, as they felt that he was not a winning candidate. However, Bava has proved them wrong. BJP will now have to re-jig their strategies by taking stock of where they went wrong in this constituency, where businessman-turned-politician, Krishna J Palemar, ruled the roost in the recent years.

Start off the Mangala Croniche (Ring Road project) which is the need of the hour. Built state of the art Water Dam project and an International Level cricket stadium, along with a sport complex. Rest leave it to the builders they will develop the realty market.

To the INC President Ms. Sonia Gandhi, Vice Pr. Rahul Gandhi,
    PM MM Singh,
Other Congress leaders who gave speeches prior to the election here in Karnataka, invisible INC MP\RS who accompanied above especially Oscar Fernandes:
Congratulations for returning to form Govt. in Karnataka.
It was possible because of voters who backed you to get away from communal\corrupt\problems creating \infighting government.
We all heard your speeches. There were promises made to the would be voters and if came back to power, you would keep those promises.
People have now voted you back to power. Do not start giving lame excuses to get away from those promises, you top guys down to the MLAs have made for easing peoples problems e.g. drinking water supply\electricity\good roads, stoppage of harassment of innocent people by various senes, employment for youth etc. (you know what you promised) and most of all corruption free Govt. and many more.
Please instruct all your Politicians\officials who have won in various constituencies to look into peoples' grievances and seek ways to address them at the earliest.

Hope to see that we have a very good, people friendly Government in Karnataka for the next 5 years to begin with.....

I am so glad BM Bava has prevailed over evil.
I keep on saying everywhere, Voters now can watch\hear\listen to events happening, in a matter of minutes.
That kind of on candidates, their doings and their achievements can not be hidden by the candidates anymore. People do not vote because one is a goonda or a crorepathi or a somebody in Politics. Now they vote if the candidate is sincere and had done or really tried to do good when he had the chance.
Here is a classic example how voters exercised their rights and so rightly they did so too.
To the winning candidate - you have promised - now you deliver or else....

Finally , the verdict has come. Mr.Bava, now you must show the electorate that you can really perform. We need actions and not mere time pass. If the voters have lifted Congress this is just due to the communal harmony. Keep this up since Dakshina Kannada is a sensitive place for Religious outlook. Most important work is to dismantle the existing mafia of communal forces and break their backbone especially the BD.
We look forward to have A-Class Stadium in Mangalore ASAP.
CONGRATULATIONS and we pray that CONGRESS will live up to the expectations of the Electorate.

So finally you agree that your government was corrupt and got booted out. Please remember that people know that every politician is corrupt irrespective of the party he belongs to, yet people will fight corruption in their own way, but there is no chance that they will elect communal forces to divide and kill on the basis of religion. Your party is a master in this and that is why they got routed and they will continue to lose as long as there are Modi's, Advani's, Prabakar Bhat's and Togadia's etc in their fold who spew venom and call for the destruction of helpless minorities. He who thinks of ruling on the slaughter and blood of others will never succeed.
