Mangalore: BJP's defeat a lesson; Modi's visit a gain for Congress - Janardhan Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (NM)

Mangalore, May 8: “Bad administration in the state has resulted in a shameful defeat for the ruling Bharathiya Janata Party (BJP). This time, the Congress party which is blessed with an aboslute majority in the state, will face a similar fate if it fails to provide good governance," said senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary in a press meet held at the Congress office soon after the elections results on Wednesday May 8.

“This is a cautious reminder to all the upcoming ministers and leaders of Congress. If you take responsibility lightly, the party will witness such a disgraceful defeat like that faced by the BJP leaders in the elections after five years of bad governance," Poojary further advised.

“Not only that, if the elected representatives of the Congress indulge in bad administration, I will myself travel across the state asking people not to vote for the Congress," he said stressing the importance of good governance. “With election results, the people of the state have sent a strong message to the politicians,” added Poojary.

Terming the visit of Sonia Gandhi to the state as “fruitful," Poojary said, “Despite ill-health, Sonia Gandhi visited the state twice. The atmosphere of saffronization and communalism was spread across the coastal region she had said and asked us to work for the removal of such anti-democracy elements in the region and work towards socialism,” he added.

Modi’s visit a gain for Congress

Calling the visit of Narendra Modi a gain to the Congress, Poojary took the opportunity to again mock the BJP’s star campaigner and projected PM candidate. “Our people are peace-loving. But Modi came and preached hatred and communalism; unnecessarily picked up the issue of cow slaughter and pink revolution thus intending to create division in the region. I am thankful to the people for aptly rewarding Modi," he mocked.

Ridiculing Narendra Modi as ‘Hitler’, Poojary said, “Modi does not deserve to be a Prime Ministerial candidate. Firstly, he needs to have control over his tongue. His perception of ‘Hindutva’ is wrong,” he said and added, “A Prime Ministerial candidate should be secular”.

“BJP should have learnt a serious lesson after the result of the urban body election. BJP did not do it. It’s not only a fall in the state, BJP does not have a strong leadership at the centre,” Poojary further opined.

Asked if the victory of the BJP at Karkala and Sullia belittled the Congress, Poojary said, “It’s a democratic country. Winning in all the constituencies should not happen. Strong opposition is a must for good governance. Otherwise, there could be an egoistic reign by the ruling party,” he said.

Shedding light on the election results in DK and Udupi districts, Poojary said, “It was not a simple victory of the Congress, but a victory with a great margin. Even Sullia, which was one of BJP’s dominant constituency faced a tough fight losing with a low margin. People of Dakshina Kannada have tremendously blessed the Congress party electing seven candidates from eight constituencies with a good majority”.

Commenting on the victory of U T Khader, he said, “Khader proved himself as a mass leader despite so many candidates against him. Udupi district too was pro-Congress,” he said. He complimented Halady Srinivas Shetty of Kundapur constituency for his record victory as an independent candidate. “We will humbly accept the victory,” he said.

    Amar,

Brave enough to accept the truth too. Do we have enough rice to feed our people? Entire Coastal areas rice production is diminishing year by year due to various reasons. Do you think our next Government will buy rice in higher price and give it to poor people in Karnataka? Of course they will look for cheap quality rice from Indonesia or China for distribution whereby opening flood gate for corruption like Central Government did for Wheat Importation

    Dear friend sachidananda
When economy grows people shun agricultural profession and take up white collar jobs. Economy turna from agrarian to industrial and then to service based.

Look do you want to say that if bjp ruled all thecoastal people would still be doing agriculture. It sound funny.

I dont say that congress was most efficient. But it id far better than the party which wants to rule people by spreading hatred and deviding people.

Last five years have shown that the cadtle built on sands of hatred do collapse and fail to stay. Worms hiding in such fortress get exposed because love only lasts.

Wow Cyril Mascarenhas, you couldnt have put it any better. The BJP must be wondering that they did everything according to the BJP guidelines, causing communal tensions, encouraging moral policing, protecting goons, spreading hate among the people and even stooping so low as to try to distribute anti opposition pamplets and stop voters from voting. And they still lost! when will they learn. I think one of the first things the Congress needs to find out is what happened to the thousands of voters who found their names removed from the voters list and the rest of us who applied to be included in the voters list, we eventually found our names included but what happened to our IDs. A very hearty congratulations to the Congress party and I hope you carry out your administration with a clean conscience. Each and everyone of you. God bless you all.

Congratulations Congi Supporters for clean majority in Karnataka Poll. But try to understand some facts too there are 11 Seats, i.e. Afzalpur Channagiri, Chiknayakahalli, Hangal, Kundgol, Mayakonda, Muddebihal, Tarikere, Tirthahalli, Tumkur City and Yadgir slip out from BJP just because of KJP and BSR Congress Parties. 6 Seats win by KJP and 4 by BSR means total 21 Seats gone in favour of Congress just because of BJP mishandling of Yeddy and Reddy Brothers. In the total voting held, Congress gained only 2% more votes compare to Year-2008 of 35% total voting. 10% voting gone to KJP and 1% gone to BSR, 1% more gone to JDS hence BJP lost 14% voting altogether. Money factor does make difference in Udupi constituency where as in Kaup, JDS candidate Salian lost even after distributing money among his own community. Mangalore region gone in favour of Lobo just because Ivan & Team succeed in inclusion of various outsiders in Mangalore voting list. Only shocking news for BJP is from Puttur since Shakku community members’ favoured Shetty candidate than BJP. Who says Modi factor doesn’t made difference in Mangalore region, else Congress could have increased margin since outsiders inclusion is more than proper Mangalorean votes. Only consolation for our State people that we will have stable government for next 5 years but just forget about development for next 5 years too. Moreover illegal business like pubs, home stays, ice cream parlour, etc will increase in Mangalore region

You have got your mathematics wrong.
Congress vote share is 42 % and not 37% as your udayavani has intentionally misreported.

It has gained 7% more votes.
KJP has got only 4% more votes.

    BJP has lost 15% votes.
Out of it 7% has gone to congress, 4% to JD and 4% to KJP.

Except in Coastal regions impressive win by Congress all over Karnataka they just sailed through only. Out of 121 Seats, takeout 11 Seats from our Coastal region and 20 Seats granted by KJP and BSR then Congress left out with 90 Seats as compared to 88 total Seats in Year-2008. During election campaign, Mr. Shetter asked forgiveness of the voters for their misdeeds. But, unfortunately, wise voters rejected his plea. They are well aware of BJP leader's true color.
Even 'Sardar Modi' (?) magic didn't work.
    Modi must have realized now,

I have been following events in Karnataka and in particular in Mangalore. I don’t believe in supernatural things and it may be coincidence but I have observed that the day they entered our churches and convents BJP’s downfall has started. Just flash back the BJP’s leadership on that eventful day and recollect the way they defended those acts of goondaism and the politics they played there on. And then came Somashekar’s deceitful report who put the blame on the victims. Such a flagrant cheating ! And look today, where are they now? Everybody is literally annihilated to say the least.

Kisine such kaha hai, Uska ghar me dher hai, andhera nahin hai.

Mr. Poojari is one of the very few leaders who is non-corrupt, hardcore in his principles, fearlessly candid and true help for the poor and the less fortunate ones and a utter non-conformist. Just see the service he has rendered to the widows in our society, lately. Hope the Mangalore Congress will be guided by him throughout the next 5 years. This is for Mr. Poojari, one for the road….

BJP did ignominiously bad, tired people have chosen Congress
Please restore secularism, law and embark on progress
It’s simple fourth standard formula, no need of big strategy
Chale gaye Modiji, Ab Poojariji, dammayya ‘KAI’ budodchi !

    Mr. Poojary sir,
I like your statement 'it is a cautious reminder for Congress upcoming ministers, if you take responsibility lightly and mismanage the administration you will be thrown out of power by people.......'. Victory of Congress in Karnataka is not because of Sonia Gandhi's visit or Rahul Gandhi's visit to Karnataka. This is peoples verdict to our Leaders! This is VICTORY OF DEMOCRACY!. I wish and pray we will be able to live peacefully in Mangalore from now onwards. Mangalore's name has been tarnished throughout the world by BJP governance. Be careful Congress Leaders!

Mr. Janardhan Poojary's comments are 100% correct. Mr. Modi's visit had helped Congress to get more seats. Wherever Mr. Modi went outside Gujrat, BJP lost very badly! Moreover, Mr.Modi can not become the PM of our country in 2014. Congress should provide a good Governance and prove that they are sincere and corruption-free. Surely Congress will win the LS elections in 2014 and form the next Government. Jai Ho Congress!

Dear Mr.Poojary..Please remember that it is the victory of People of Karnataka and not the victory of Congress.Kannadigas are known as intelligent people and they have shown it again.People were fed up with corruption, sex scandal of BJP leaders. So,they gave Anti Corruption Medicine to BJP. They will use same medicine in Lok Sabha polls.People who got involved in 2G,3G,Adarsh sacm,Coal sacam,95 lakhs bribe scam will be targetted by Kannadigas.Because Kannadigas are intelligent !!
Mr Modi's visit didn't help because Kannadigas have already decided to whom to elect before Modi arrived in Bangalore.Still massive crwod gathered in Banglaore and Mangalore. He is one of the finest speakers India have ever seen in present politics. He has changed and brought intl fame to Gujarat by making fantastic developments.Anyway..congrats to Congress, especially Mr.Lobo who defeated sleeping MLA..and Mr.Bava who defeated one of the Blue Boys !

Mr. Modi's campaign has helped the Congress.
When Mr. Modi didn't do anything
to improve mis-rule in Karnataka, what is the use of his campaign here? Had he appointed Lokayuktha in time, corruption in Gujarat also would have exposed like flood gates! His style of functioning is like a authoritarian.
Moreover, mindset and tradition of Karnataka voters is much different than that of Gujarat.

All three constituencies of Mangalore went to Congress which is a reckoning point BJPoojary's political future on one hand and more importantly for DK Congress point of view.He was in fore all these three ASSEMBLY segments and Surthakal in particular. It is Mr B Janradhan Poojari who convinced Mr Vijaya Kumar Shetty Surtahkal to work for Congress which ultimately bore fruits. Now deck is cleared for BJpoojari to contest from Mangalore LS seat.

Coming to Modi's visit to Bangalore and Mangalore which was proved to be very dear to Modi's ambitious political future. In Mangalore all seats lost and Bangalore BJP lost 6 more seats from 2008 result!!!Therefore, Modi's strategy in Karnataka gone for astray!!!!

    MODI......no effect in Karnataka

Varun not brought varuna for BJP in Karnataka in fact, wherever he canvassed were lost!!!!

LKA/SUSHMA/NAIDU/JAITELY's political strategy gone in vain in front of CONGRESS tsunami in Karnataka.Modi lost face and perhaps a blow for his candidature to PM of India. This humiliating defeat of BJP certainly dent it's faring in 2014 LS polls to wrest power from Congress.

Modi 's visit to Karnatka may have made the people see the desperate measures of the BJP which legitimised corruption and indulged in moral policing , brutal church attacks which were some of the factors for the BJP's debacle at the hustings. This is really the end of the BJP in Karnataka. THANKS mainly to the KJP and it's leader BSY.But the Congress should not bask in glory and revive it's several fault lines of earlier years by putting up puppet ministers.
It should discourage corruption and NEVER give the JDS and BJP another foothold in Karnataka politics . The people are not fools and will be ready again to teach the Congress another lesson if they fail to put up good leaders and TOTALLY weed out corruption.
The common man is fed up and the rising living costs has made life unbearable .The farmers plight is sad as the drought condition has not helped either the poor Farmers and the Coffee Planters as well .

    BJPoojari dont open your mouth,
Narendra Modi campaigned in 3 districts out of 30 in Karnataka = 10%. BJP got 21 out of its 40 seats in these districts i.e. 55% of the seats whereas in remaining 183seats BJP could manage just 19 seats.

Comparing it with Congress star campaigner Shri Rahul Gandhi.
He visited 9 districts out of 30 in Karnataka = 30%. Congress won 43 of 121 seats in these districts= 35.5% whereas of the remaining 102 seats Congress won a whooping 77 seats

Modi was ferried to Mangalore in special charted flight to save Yogish and Palemar but that too lost.Yogish Bhat for the past 20 years but Modi's one visit made him sit in the house...not only that winning seat of palemar also lost!!!!!!!Modi's visit to Karnataka in general made BJP to pay dearly ......a mere 40 seats in spite of SDPI's presence(SULLIA,,,,,)
