Mangalore: Pillion rider dies in bike-bus collision

Mangalore, May 11: The pillion rider of a motor cycle lost his life in the early hours on Friday May 10, as a result of injuries he suffered in an accident which occurred at the road bend near Kamadhenu Gas Agency at Kadri tollgate here.

The victim has been identified as Deepak (31), residing near Kankanady railway station. Prajwal (28), who was riding the vehicle, suffered grave injuries.

The friends were moving in the motor cycle towards Moodbidri for participating in a function to be held there. At around 7.30 pm, a bus that was moving towards Kadri Shivbagh from the direction of Nantoor hit the motor cycle head on.

The bike hit the ground at great force due to the impact, and Deepak got crushed under the two-wheeler. He suffered extensive injuries. Although he was admitted immediately into a hospital, he breathed his last at around 1 am on Friday.

A case in this connection stands registered in traffic police station (east). It is learnt that Deepak was working in a stall dealing with opticals located near Jyothi Circle in the city.
