Bangalore: Aspirants lobby hard for berth in Siddaramaiah cabinet

Bangalore, May 11 (PTI):
With Karnataka Chief Minister- designate Siddaramaiah all set to install his Cabinet next week, lobbying for ministerial berths has intensified.

Siddaramaiah is slated to be sworn in alone by Governor H R Bhardwaj at 11.50 AM on Monday at a ceremony at Sri Kanteerava Stadium.

Unlike previous occasions when such functions were held in Glass House of Raj Bhavan which restricted participation due to security and space constraints, the venue this time is seen as an attempt by the incoming Congress government to make it a big show and accommodate a large number of people.

Siddaramaiah and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President G Parameshwara said today both of them, along with Congress General Secretary in-charge of State Madhusudan Mistri, would finalise the probables for Cabinet berths after the nod of Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Siddaramaiah called on Parameshwara, who lost in Koratagere segment in the May five Assembly elections, and it was termed by the latter as a "cordial and courtesy visit".

The shock defeat of Parameshwara, one of the key contenders for the Chief Minister's post, has given rise to conspiracy theories in a section of the Congress that his fall was orchestrated by some forces within the party.

There is already talk that Parameshwara, who is in the good books of the Congress central leadership which acknowledged his role in Congress storming to power in the state, might be made an MLC and is likely to get a key portfolio.

Senior party leaders, including D K Shivakumar, R V Deshpande, Shamanur Shivashankarappa and T B Jayachandra who were among aspirants for Chief Ministership, are likely to get plum ministries in the Cabinet, according to party sources.

Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah called on acclaimed litterateurs U R Ananthamurthy, Chandrashekhara Kambara and G S Shivarudrappa.

Siddaramaiah's residence was also flooded with supporters and well-wishers, a day after he was elected CLP leader.

Among those who came and personally wished him were Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Ashok Kheny, who won the Assembly poll from Bidar South as a candidate of Karnataka Makkala Paksha and leader of Karnataka Janatha Paksha V Dhananjaya Kumar.

The best thing which happened for Karnataka is the full mandate given to one party. Now congress has a very good chance to recover and if it can show results can make a big difference in the 2014 general elections

There is a big task over the shoulder of Siddu to rebuild our state and make it No.1 in India. Small size preferably not more than 25 ministers will help the government downsize the bureaucracy and cut down on expenditure. People who have genuine love and concern for people should be appointed as minister. They must have progressive and innovative thinking. Induct as many as youth leaders because without physical health one cannot keep in touch with the vast area of our state.

Since Siddu presented as many as seven state budgets as a finance minister he is very familiar with the economic issues of the state. Let us hope his experience will enable him to take policy decisions that lead to economic well being of the people of Karnataka.

The Criminal Family of Belgaum that is Jarkiholis should never be made ministers. Out of three brothers - two have won from Cong and one from BJP. Whichever party comes to power one of these Criminal Trio always gets Minister post under Valmiki quota, to make life miserable for the people of Belgaum Dist. This time it should not happen.

Out of 121, 40 voted against Siddlu. It means, this 40 40 40=120 MLA’s can make Siddlu’s life miserable as long as person like Kumaraswamy will be there in Karnataka Assembly Hall. Anyhow, Siddlu will be there for only short time since he is not a cooperative person among his colleagues. Only plus point is, he is not corrupt like any other Congress Leaders in Karnataka or Delhi but this will lead to difficult time to continue in CM Post since almost all of them needs favour from CM

Hotel stay, operation kamala would also will come up as they are latest trends which was started by INC in Maharastra much before BJP. First recall INC rule and then comment. Now already the tamasha has started. All want to be ministers and if they dont then their suporters will create disturbances(blocking roads etc) a few will also think of making their own party. This is Karnataka.
Our Coastal region needs our own elected leaders with our own administration under Karnataka state. Our region is self-suficent region with brains, culture and buety. Why are we running after these hungry politicians ? Mangalore/Udupi has everything we want. What do we need more ? We used to be such a peacful and beautiful region and we want this back. Long live D.K/Udupi.

I had voiced the same concerns you have raised when a rowdy tourism minister arrived in Mangalore, couple of months back and was of the opinion, having been only second to B'Lore in tax collection, vehicle and property registrations, highest NRI remittances, we have been ruled by such corrupt officials, and not to mention uncivilized police officials messing around our region (with the blessings of BJP ofcourse) and no real development took place inspite of all these positive factors for so long, pushing our region into backwardness.
I would also ask the Congress high command, and Osar Fernandes, Moily etc. to strongly lobby for ministerial positions for the sole Christian MLA, J.R.L., and the rest of all MLAs from the twin districts on a ive basis so that we can make the best out of the people's victory in this election.

    Yes Aubb, Kuwait
Our coastal region in particular and southern states in general were once known for personal and party discipline!
However rowdy culture of some northern rogue states invaded us!
But luckily we repulsed it back.

Their people coming to our region for jobs/earning livelihood is o.k. But not their rowdy culture and nature our law of the land & harmony should prevail over here.
Instead let our culture, discipline and education go to some northern rogue states for their improvement!

The actual circus starts after 11.50 AM on Monday.

Kharge Supporters have gone berserk in Gulbarga, Mysore by blocking the roads, pelting stones, burning buses, burning effigies, suicide attempts etc etc.

Congis are extreme power hungry people. They have been waiting for this from last 7 years. They don't hesitate to sell our state for the sake of power. God save our KARUNADU from these congress goons.

All plum portfolios will be allocated to Lingayaths, Vokkaligas, Kurubas, Dissidents and detractors. Our Coastal people will get one MUJARAI and one FISHERIES & PORT ministry.

INC also has history of providing 3 CMs in 5 year. As per Karnataka history nobody was chosen 2nd term except Hegde in 1985. Siddu can ralx till General Election and once Kharge becomes jobless after 2014 election, once again full fledged circus will begin and Siddu's days would be numbered and thrown out by Kharge. Looks like INC rule would not be much different from BJP innings. AFter minister berth allocation first cut of drama would be unvieled. So, guys dont worry too much and waste time ...get back to our routin work.

It is normal to aspire ministerial berth because most of the winners are multiple time MLAs.When we refer our own district,3-4 serious contenders. But when coming to issue there should be Representative from maximum if not all districts and on the other hand all community ,sects and groups should be given representation! Therefore,CM ion was very clean and timely but accommodation in cabinet indeed daunting task to CONGRESS/SIDDU.

KHENY's visit and VDK's courtesy call both incidents are bit surprising.BY the way,"RAI-SORAKE pakka ..bakidakulu bokka"On the other hand,Abayar might enter cabinet silently due to the proximity with SIDDU?
