BJP's defeat in Karnataka not a surprise - L K Advani

BJP's defeat in Karnataka not a surprise - L K Advani

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, May 12: In a candid remark on his blog, top BJP leader L K Advani admitted that BJP's defeat in Karnataka was no surprise to him, and that he would have been surprised if the party had won.

"I feel sorry that we have lost in Karnataka. But I am not surprised. The surprise would have been if we had won," he said.

He also pointed out that the results of Karnataka elections are a 'profound lesson' for the BJP as well as for the Congress.

"As it is, I think the Karnataka results have a profound lesson for the BJP. In a way it has a lesson also for the Congress. The common lesson for both of us is : let’s not take the common man for granted. He (the common man) himself may occasionally deviate from the norms of ethical conduct, but he does feel extremely angry when he sees those at the helm of national affairs behaving immorally. This is the principal reason why there is such intense allergy towards politicians generally nowadays," he said.

Commenting on the UPA, he said the indignation that corruption provoked in Bangalore was being reflected in New Delhi too.

"If corruption provokes indignation in Bangalore, why would it not cause the same feeling in New Delhi? Actually, I hold that it is the Karnataka results that have contributed to clinching action being taken even in the matter of Coalgate and Railgate! Before Karnataka results, the Congress Party seemed determined not to do anything about the two scams even if it meant a total washout of the second half of the Budget Session," he said.

He also referred to Yeddyurappa in the blog and said that things would have been 'different' if BJP had taken appropriate action on time.

"There have been press reports that we lost Karnataka because we threw out Yeddyurappa... Let me first point out that BJP did not throw out Yeddi; it is he who broke away from the BJP and decided to form a factional party of his own, the KJP. In fact, when it became apparent that he was unabashedly indulging in corruption, if the party had immediately taken firm action, the course of events would have been quite different.

"But for several months, frantic efforts went on somehow to keep placating him by condoning his peccadilloes (misdeeds). The justification given was that if the party did not adopt such a ‘pragmatic’ approach we would lose the only government that we had in the south," he stated.

Citing examples of previous political situations in other states wherein the BJP had taken a strong stand against its own people, he concluded, "Because of the high expectations we have aroused in the people by our excellent track record in all these years, even minor indiscretions can prove costly for us. And our response to the Karnataka crisis was not at all a minor indiscretion. I have consistently maintained that our handling of Karnataka has been absolutely opportunistic."

I do agree dat Congress in corrupt at d centre however they played smart..If u remember at d time of UPA 1 hardly u found any corruption cases & they did some development work to get the confidence of voters so that they get re elected again unlike foolish BJP govt in Karnataka..They got into power nd started looting from day one.. Nd they completely forgot the ppl who actually funded/helped them to win d elections ie Chaddi & Reddy Bros.. Just not power hungry nd greedy but also so so foolish nd stupid.. May be Chaddi bros have funded d election with a agreement dat as soon as u form d govt we need d money back wid intrst dats y they started looting immediately LOL

BJP should not have removed BSY from CM Post at first because the Congress led Central Govt. which runs on deep neck corruption in the history of India but PM never resigned. BJP thought that people will support them if they act against corruption, but this itself proved fatal to BJP since people themselves support corruption. No end for corruption instead it will increase due to people's attitude. Congress Party purely runs on corruption, divide & rule policy. They have created Minorities as their vote bank ( coz even educated minorities never think) innocent Hindus vote for either BJP or Congress or JD(S). Ultimately Congress will be the Winner. At least think from Goan people how they routed Corrupt Congress out of GOA & enjoying life with least price for Petrol & Diesel in the whole country.

IF ADVANIJI WAS SO SURE OF LOSS OF KARNATAKA

WHY THEN DID HE ENDORSE MODI'S COMING TO KARNATAKA?

NOW BJP LOST ANYWAY THEY WERE TO LOSE

BUT IN THE BARGAIN POOR MODI TOO LOST HIS CREDIBILITY

SO FOR THE BJP IT WAS A DOUBLE LOSS

ON THE ONE HAND A DIRECT LOSS

ON ANOTHER HAND A LOSS OF MODI'S FACE WERE HE LOST UTTERLY WEHREVER HE APPEARED FOR CAMPAIGNING

THAT MEANS, MODI CANNOT SHINE OUTSIDE OF GUJARATH

Advaniji before blaming Yaddi you should know that you people including Sushma Swaraj & Shakuni Anant Kumar gave full support to Criminal Reddy gang and allowed the Party to use Reddi gang's illegal money to buy MLAs under operation Kamala. Due to this, the Crooked Reddy gang became very strong within BJP and made life miserable for Yaddy. Op.Kamala might have strengthened the BJP party but weakened Yaddi's position as CM as Reddys went on blackmailing yeddi and made him cry in the public. Ultimately yeddi decided that he will have his own money power instead of depending on Criminal Reddy's money and hence he resorted to corruption. Otherwise he was not corrupt as could be seen from his track record as Dy.CM during 20:20 with Kummy Swamy govt.
In a nut shell we can say that it is BJP High Command which made Yaddi corrupt and also rebellious, and ultimately paid heavy price in this election.

Of course there are serious charges of scam against the Congress led UPA Government. BJP leaders record on corruption is also equally bad. But when it comes to Ideology, BJP Ideology has a hidden agenda of RSS, which is not practical and in the interest of the country. BJP has to come out from the clutches of RSS, if it wants to be an alternate to the Congress. Otherwise, on corruption both Congress and BJP are one-one and on ideology BJP seem to be one down with the Congress. Hence Congress will have that advantage and BJP is aware of their drawback and but no way out.

THE LOST EMPEROR..Mr.Advani is the true example for sadist leader.Only sadist can do some dangerous things to gain something out of frustration. He did that dangerous(Sadist) work by demolishing Babri Masjid to bring BJP into power. His noble work DIVIDED India.Indians suffer till today because of communal violence..Thanks to this great leader. What Pakistan desperately wanted to do and failed,Advani did it in ONE DAY..! He went to Pakistan when he was a Home Minister and visited his birth place..that is good..but he praised Mohd Ali Jinnah as a secular leader !!

The people are the masters and this has been proved when Indira Gandhi lost the election in 1977. Corruption and communal politics will not survive in Indian democracy. People are looking for clean governace otherwise they will show the door. BJP must take the lesson from here.

    Mr Advani...
Are u still in deep slumber?? Only once your hindutva plan has worked in your favour to get you the votes.. but after realising their mistakes, the voters have kept you out of power in the center. Becos people dont need Ram mandir or Babri s=masjid but they need peace, security and bread and shelter... Aftyer gaining in power what you did is to devide the society on ethnic and religious lines. For you raping of minor and old women is acceptable and ok but a talking of boys and girls from different communities are sin and crime.

Dowry deaths are ok with you but cow slaughter for food is a crime in your eyes. For you only hindus have the right to worship and their places of worship is holy but churches and masjids are unholy to your outfits. People would have voted you to power if you have maintained peace and brotherhood in society by overlooking and forgiving your corruption and scandals. At the end of the day, no govt is giving us our daily needs and we should work for it. What a govt can give us is peace of mind and gud nights sleep. Advani, its your devide and rule policy has costed you dearly..For you only hindus are Indians and non hindus are aliens..
Please take lessons from ur mistakes and start respecting n practicing our secular constitutional values. u thought bjp poster boy Modi cud do miracles and bring bjp to power in our state. We are not gujaratis but we r kannadigas and progeny of Rani chennamma, rani abbaka, tipu sulatan who stood up against injustice and atrocities..We shall and will tolerate corrupt defunct govts but we cant tolerate social injustice, religious discrimination and hate and devide.

We shall break those who try to devide us and we are more powerful than your ideologies and think tanks.. We love our hindu muslim and christian neighbours and treat them as human beings and at par with us and we dont discriminate on the basis of their faith. We love our own fellow Indians. BJP shall be history in karnataka. Jai Karnataka.

Very objective analysis by Advani on the reasons for debacle of BJP in Karnataka. Yeddy should have been replaced much earlier when there was revolt by MLAs first time. In fact BJP high command under Nitin Gadkari became spineless and allowed Yeddy to continue for whatever reason. By the time High command realised and took action against Yeddy, it was too late and the irreparable damage has been done. Had Yeddy has been thrown out of power/party in time, the BJP would have survived as there are still good party workers and leaders. A golden opportunity is lost for BJP in south India!!!

Advaniji, you did a great mistake by removing Yeddy and eventually BJP paid big price for the same. Never remove any Leaders those who are just accused corrupt in any report. Just learn something from most corrupt Party like Congress is doing. To rule any State or Central Government in India, you have to keep at aside your principle of non-tolerance and indiscipline, etc, etc. Learn some cruel politics from Congress to appease various so called Minority communities. Never allow any “Sene or Dal” to attack any illegal business activities rather try to legalize the illegal business by taking huge Party funds from them. When election comes, be ready to through money like anything. Never any most adventures projects on Nation building point of view instead try to give cash or in kind to common public. Keep one reputed person on each Districtwise with at least Fifty Thousand Rupees bundles to rush to any person in case of any accident or natural calamities. Never try to pass a bill to restrict any religions food. And then you see BJP is not less than Congress

Voter has to decide between the combination of corruption plus communalism and corruption and hence choose corruption as his only choice.By electing congress he did not endorse corruption but he had no choice.Same thing may happen in 2014 Loksabha elections also.Corruption is bad for a nation but communalism and moral policing is bad for daily peace and coexistance.

Absolutely the lame duck of BJP quacks now!!!.

    Too little too early!!!.

If this man (Advaniji) did not continue his Rath Yathra's and "Instigate" people across India in the name of Religion,Ram,Ayodhya etc., how can the "BJP" survive!!!

Forget winning.... Now they have to find "New Means" or ways/strategies for their survival because the "Money & Honey Bags" seems to have dried-up after Reddy's have been lodged in the Jail.

    Dear Bolluji,
Please take it from me the fact that Grand Ram Mandir will not and never be built by BJP even it obtaines clear majority and forms government at the center.Whatever the present staus of the temple is only because of Congress. As you said Late Rajeev Gandhi,Narasimha Rao are mainly tolerent for Ram janmabhoomi movement hence there was progress. Now there is a make shift temple in Ayodhya building a seperate grand temple does not attain much importance. No politicial party now onwards can encash by rousing communal passion. That season was over long ago.

Why BJP did not build Ram Mandir when they ruled for 6 years?. Even BJP don't want to close this issue as they want to take political milage out of it. Kursi is more important for BJP than Ram Mandir.

I always like Advanijis view because he speaks candidly.Yes,main reason for BJPs debacle in Karnataka is due to primarily on massive corruption.Next, they never took into confidence comman man but taken him for granted.People started getting restive on all counts.BJP Hicommand was referring only to Yedyurappa but not his many collegues.Advaniji you will be ashtonished to know that 100% BJPs ministers/MLAs in Karnataka wear corrupt beyong imagination. They totally exherted on amassing wealth in what ever way possible unmindful of peoples feelings who voted them to power. So BJP defeat is a strong lesson for all those who are in Vidhana Soudha.Let them npt take people (voters) for granted.

The sad face on the Advani's face is nothing surprising given
    1) It is sure that Congress will be thrown out of power in the 2014 but Advani will not be able to become PM
    2) Supreme court may make CBI Independent which means that BJP can not indulge in corruption even if they come to power.

Both are good for general public.
