As earlier said instead of commenting on comments - it is better to walk an hour or a mile. Mr. Bollu, though Mangaloreans live abroad their heart is in Mangalore and they love India very much unlike others. When I graduated my job went to backward classes just because they are backward in everything including education. That is all politics. I did not blame on politics as you blame everything on a particular party,

I took that as positive step and, before landing in US I worked in other countries too. If you are educated get yourself straight then everything looks straight. I hope what I mean. America can handle whole world's population and you know what I mean and also we pay taxes and we vote and question them and in case we need help we can call them. That is called democracy and people have education. Mangaloreans have everything, say education, money, good people but person like you always pull the legs of those who reaches top. Get it. Hope you improve with your frog mentality.

Buses need doors and need to be controlled by a driver which is not possible in Indian public buses. Why do not suggest that we need to have western roads, buses, educated drivers, including public who start in time to work and never in haste. This is not possible. Instead commenting on comments, go outside and walk for one hour which is good for your health. Sometimes I wonder before the plane completely halts people want to jump (get) out then imagine getting out of Mangalore buses which they fly like jets.

You are cent per cent correct. I totally agree with you. Even in the Middle East (Doha Qatar ... where I work) it is mandatory having doors completely shut (there are no rear doors ... only front doors which are fully shut automatically with air brake levers or manually) but IT HAS TO BE CLOSED AT ALL TIMES WHEN THE BUS IS IN MOTION. Anybody can complain / report to the concerned traffic officials if the defaulting driver is plying his vehicle without obeying these rules, subsequently, when he is caught his license is impounded with imprisonment dependng upon the gravity of the situation and subsequent deportation from the country without any warning. His immediate sponsor is also summoned to the Police Station to complete the proceedings against him (concerned driver). Such rules will never be implemented in our great India. Everything is ''chaltha hai'' attitude

    Anthony...
It's what 'gift' provided by our Congress Government from sixty-five years.. It's easier to comment as God provided you opportunity to settle down in America. We wants to adjust with whatever facility provided by our Government. Can america able to handle such situation as India..if there population reach to 1400 million..!! Even death rates are much higher..having good infrastructure..as compare to India..!! We need changes..let them bring back first of all money holed-up in swiss banks..We are only good to provide 'liquor' at cheap rates..!! Who knows either person who alighted is drunken..!! No need to blame on drivers always..!!

Education matters and awareness is the "Must" simultaneously.

At times we all make little bit or too much haste and repent later some where and some times in our day to day life.

In this incident/accident why to put the entire blame on driver alone!!! or for that matter for the owner for not having the bus door!!!! (As commented by some readers of this web-portal)

What these commentators would have done suppose if they were on this bus driver's seat when this incident happened? It's very easy to pass comments on testing times. But when it comes to us it's difficult to answer!!!. Some one has lost his life.

Let's pray to the Lord to grant strength to bear this "Irrepairable / Untimely Death / Loss to his beloved family members.

How many buses have doors in this City or Service Buses in Mangalore City?

It's often people doing mistake while alighting from running bus/train...all of sudden they jump..by which there legs scroll and comes under vehicle..!! Whenever wants to alight from bus/train..try to keep your body always backwards motion..and not towards moving vehicle. Don't jump all of sudden..!! Here also apply theory of velocity..!! It's sad to note death of young man..for choosen short-cut to reach his destination..!!

My suggestion never jump before the bus stops properly.
Whenever you defy the norm then jump & run forward to reduce the speed & impact of forward motion of the vehicle & the travellers(backward is wrong, & would result as in this case-tragedy).
But if there is no space to run forward or some overtake from left of stopping vehicles, never risk a jump at all.

    Dev..
What you said is absolutely right..I agree with you.. Can you stop 'people' alight in moving bus/train..?? Better we advise them a technique how to alight at least..!! Try to keep as down your leg...and body backward..looking all angles..if you are smart..can able to do so..!! While in Train due to heavy rush..if you are near door..you cannot use your brain..people themselves throw out of train before it stop..!! Most of youngsters are always standing near 'door' are much smart..and are having good practice in it..no doubt..!! Other's and some womens mostly old womens also alighting on wrong direction on moving train and just fall..It's happens many times..because both legs scroll together..!!

How long it will take to put govt. buses in NH.66? Pvt. bus owners and Crew are not bothered about the passenger's liife. Here buses are as same as bullock carts. No doors, No glass windows, put tarpaulins during rainy season, low payment to the employees. Ultimately no problem, No. of insurance cos are there to pay compensation for the kids of victims.

Noel, Bhandarkar maam, few people think that I am not being serious when there is a situation like this. While we all share the grief, what could one do if the guy who jumped out chose to do so without caring for his life or the ones in his house. This is a lesson for all the young guns in Mangalore who think hanging on the foot board or jumping out of a moving bus. This is not heroic. This is heights of irresponsibility and dumbness. If such people want to be known as heros, they must donate blood, and do things that will help the society.

Dear Mr. Shetty do you think the doors can be closed/opened in Indian local buses. In 45 seater buses they carry 125 and more passengers sitting, standing and hanging. I think closing doors will not be possible that too in Mangalore next to impossible. Also just you climb one step or when you want to get down you are on the first step the conductor is already said RIGHT POYI. No traffic rules can change this. As far as bribery is on, these passengers state will be like this only. I prefer walking than these unruly drivers/conductors. Conductors take money don't issue tickets and then come second round ask TICKET TICKET. Whom to tell these complaints.
