Siddaramaiah in Delhi: Cabinet will have people with 'clean image'

New Delhi, May 15 (PTI): With BJP's debacle in Karnataka following corruption charges clearly on his mind, new Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today said he will have people with clean image in his Cabinet to be formed in a couple of days.

64-year-old Siddaramaiah, who took over as the Chief Minister on May 13, reached Delhi this afternoon and will hold consultation with central leadership on the composition of his Cabinet.

"Right now I cannot comment on any issue. I will be forming the Cabinet within 2-3 days with people having clean image," he told reporters here.

He will meet President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.

Siddaramaiah was chosen the Congress Legislature Party leader on Saturday after he upstaged party warhorse Union Minister Mallikarjun Kharge for the coveted post.

Siddaramaiah and KPCC chief G Parameshwara had led the Congress battle against BJP in the May five assembly polls, which paid rich dividends as the party riding on anti- incumbency put up an impressive show winning 121 seats, eight more than the required strength in the 224-member House.

BJP has the guts to throw corrupts out, though they knew that they lose the election. But believe me, congress never has the guts to keep corrupts out. Siddaramaiah is not exepetion.

    Dear Sachidanand,
Did U read today's Times of India,Bangalore edition on page 3 about the Passport problems? Don't tell me that U have not paid any bribe.I have gone through for all the requirements, like renewal of my passport, driving licence,Property registration etc, with all clear documents. But no paper will move in in Karnataka government offices without bribe.Karkala Taluk office is the worst. This department still owes money due to my mother-in-law of 85 years old for the property she has surrendered.Don't tell me Udipi traffic office not collecting any bribe.I have seen in my own eyes that agents r demanding bribe before they accept any of your clear papers & documents.Go to your Mundkur Pachayat with a request to repair your worst condition,un motorable, completely washed out roads & tell me their reply.Check with them how the funds meant for road repairs have vanished?

Dear Jacob Sir, I think in our Coastal Area, people are not yet willing to pay bribe for any works till date unless they have some documentation problem. I had registered my new Flat at Udupi without any harassment and without any extra money being paid. I did apply for Driving License in Udupi RTO without any extra money being paid and I got the Driving License within couple of days since I have Dubai Driving License. I had been to new Rajatagiri Government Offices at Manipal where we can find more than 50 Ministries are working under one large roof but Officers and Staffs are cooperating well and no one asked for extra money. I had been to my Village Panchayat Office at Mundkur and Taluk Offices at Karkala too for ration card renewal, Akrama Sakrama Scheme, etc but no Officers or Staffs demanded any bribe. So, it’s all place to place hurdles mainly depends on the people we meet at Government Offices I believe.

Dear Sachidanand Shettre, after reading your comments, and view points I felt like I am living in a Ramarajya. It is very difficult to believe that you did not pay any extra to get license or to register your flat in your name. Not possible Shettre!!! I am sure you must have paid black and white money to purchase your property??? and you have got it registered for the lesser cost in order to avoid the taxes/registration charges. I am sure you did. I am sure you must have paid the fees to secure the license to the broker, and the bribe money includes in that as well. Don't tell me that in Karkala Taluk office, there is a single saint employee exists at today's date. I just returned from Bangalore and vowed not to visit Bangalore again because what Mr. Jacob Mendonca said is 100% true. Auto Guy will not take you without charging minimum Rs 10 extra for a trip. Most of the guys asked me 1.5 times of the meter during the day time. so its not Ramarajya anywhere in India...

Dear Alexander, I am talking about Udupi, Karkala & Manipal area. Wherever I went, I got my work done without paying any bribe money. Being NRI, I did paid full white money to purchase my flat through bank loan and 25% down payment again through bank cheque only. I had to pay more registration charges since completion of building construction delayed by one year and rate for registration increased by more than 25% in one year. They have e-payment system, so that no dirty business in registration office at Udupi. I have never experienced nor did I encounter any bribe business in Taluk Offices at Karkala. In Bangalore I do not have any idea since I do not have any business there. In Mumbai we know that Government People take bribe but never dare to ask you if you have all documents in order. You can force Traffic Policemen in Mumbai to make receipt for your traffic fine though he doesn’t like it

    Dear Sachidanand Shettre,
I am glad that you came across people who did not accept any bribe from you nor you had to give bribe to anyone. I am not sure if you have correctly understood me or not. I agree that you have paid the monies through a proper channel to the Builder but when the Builder sold the apartment to you, I am sure he has not made an agreement to the full amount which is quoted per Sq Feet in the registration papers. There is no single builder who is selling and registering the apartment in India for the full value the purchase price. You may not be aware of this and signed papers without this knowledge, but yes it does exist in 100% real estate dealings in India. My intention is not to downplay your experiences rather today it is very difficult to find an honest officer/employee working in public domain.I personally liked your ideology of not paying bribe and opposing it when you are asked to pay but how practical it is in our daily lives which is a matter to be pondered upon.

Even I worked for Bombay Dyeing Until 1974 in Ballard Estate.I got my Passport for 27 rupees from Bombay without paying any bribe.I went to Bahrain in 1974 & than to Abudhabi where I worked for 29 years without paying any bribe to get my Driving Licence, liquor permit, visit visas for my family members.

Sachidanand after U retire from Dubai, when U come to Mundkur U may have to pay bribe if U want to register a new property if U r going to buy there.U come to Bangalore,& ask a Auto Driver,he will not take U in his Auto unless U agree to pay extra & if it is a small distance, most of the Autos will not agree to take in his Auto.Read todays Times of India,Bangalore edition on page 4, on line & U will be surprised how difficult it is to get a passport without paying bribe.I am sure when U come back,& if U want to convert your driving licence,U will not get it in time even after paying extra to the agents near the traffic offices.

As per the Karnataka Election Watch 2017, following 17 MLAs have criminal records including causing death by negligence, criminal intimidation, forgery, causing disappearance of evidence of offence, breach of trust by a public servant, cheating and illegal payments in connection with an election. The 17 MLAs mentioned in the report are: Vijayanand Kashappanavar, BM Nagaraj, D Sudhakara, YY Patil, BA Basavaraja, Qamar-ul-Islam, Ajay Dharm Singh, Umashree, SPR Patil, S Rafeeq Ahmed, SS Mallikarjun, DK Shivakumar, RM Lamani, Umesh G Jadav, G Hampayya, Jagadish Patil and Munirathna. Meanwhile, freedom fighter HS Doreswamy has written a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah asking him to keep DK Shivakumar, Santosh Lad and Anil Lad out of the Cabinet. His letter states that these three MLAs have been accused of being involved in the illegal iron ore mining scam. According to him, the Congress, which fought against illegal mining, should set an example by distancing itself from those MLAs who are accused in the scam. Will Siddu keep them out???? http://www.dailypioneer.com/nation/17-ktaka-cong-mlasfacing-criminal-cases.html

Moreover there are 55 other Leaders from various Political Parties are being named in Lokayukta Report other than Reddy and Yeddy Family. But you see people never talk about other nor even complain against others too. So, it is politically motivated media campaign well orchestrated by Congress to oust BJP from Karnataka so that they can do their business as usual

Dont write off BJP from the political map so soon. If you see, anti incumbency works in pretty much every state and is not a unique phenomenon in Karnataka. Congress has been kicked out of UP, Punjab and many other states. Even Yeddy was clean person until he became CM. Our new CM is proposing cheap branded liquor to poor and someone already has a distillery - I already smell a rat here. Also, give rice to poor at Rs 1 Per Kg and take away the rest of the earnings in cheap branded affordable liquor. Hmm...Indeed innovative thinking.

So, net-net, with the way things are going, I see no magic wand in the hands of Congress and nothing will change anytime soon. Only time will be the testimony of things to come. Also, your logic of top person being clean and rest will be taken care is flawed - please look at the number of scams in UPA government.

Visiting Congress Head Quarters at Delhi itself make you dirty or polluted forever Mr. CM. 37 MLAs’ of Congress are having serious cases of civil and criminal natures in various Courts allover Karnataka. 10 to 15 MLAs’ are indeed having clean image but you don’t give them Minister Post since they are outsiders or first timer. Remaining lot, do not even know how to fill up their Security Batch Form at Vidhana Soudha. You may get few people from Opposition Parties but you can’t take them in your Cabinet.
