Agree. Only capable persons should be ministers. I don't care if he is Christian or Muslim. Whether 5 muslims or 3 Christians in the ministry as long as the ion is not based on quota. In politics all communities should get representation. That is Ideal. But if you do not have a suitable candidate from a certain community no need not give the post. Try to find a MLC (suitable) from that community and make him minister. Bottom line is ALL ministers should be ed based on merit. No caste no religion in governance.

    MR.Sachidanand Shetty,

U mean to say that no Christian should be given Ministerial berth in the Cabinet.Do U think that only Corrupt unperforming unqualified, over 70 years old people should be given preference. We do not intend to create unrest in our state. We do not want Goondas to attack our Churches & Masjids & other religious institutions. We need more & more reservations as our MLAs r well qualified,& hence if not reservations we deserve ministerial posts on merit.I am sure in future more & more Christians will come forward to join Politics to safe guard our interest. We will not tolerate injustice done towards us so far.

I can understand your anguish Mr. Das Kudla, I have sailed in the similar boat. You mentioned about NITK (in my time it was REC, there was no common entrance test, entrance to the colleges were based on PUC marks based on a state-wide ranking) where I used to know a student Mr. M (from Bijapur) who had just 39% in PCM, was forced to take up Chemical Engineering against his wishes. He had opted for a seat in Bagalkot or Gulbarga because it was near to his place and he was already married !!!. Sad part is he could not continue in Suratkal after the 3rd year. ONE SEAT WAS WASTED which a deserving candidate (like you, or me though I was not so deserving with 89% marks to qualify for REC) could have utilized. Unfortunately Mr. M was not the only one to WASTE the seats. I am against reservation based on religion or caste. Reservation should be based on economic conditions and to the deserving candidates fulfilling a certain minimum criteria. A farce in the name of social justice is not working in India the way it is implemented. I would have been happy if Mr. M was given all resources (by Govt, like appointing a special tutor)he needs to complete his course at KREC which was thrust upon him. However, I completed my engineering from MIT, Manipal (I was Langoolanna's Junior) thanks to Late Ramakrishna Hegde, as part of his ambitious plan of nationalizing private engineering colleges in Karnataka. It was the FIRST and the LAST time in the history of MIT that 82 seats were given on merit (without capitation fees, but the annual fees were 4.5 times that of REC)on government quota.

..Christians demand is genuine, unless we remove all the quota, reservations in all the fields..Its high time we gradually reduce the quota system, since now its harm than any good..Its also a main reason for the corruption due elevation of undeserved workforce simply on quota, reservation basis..But, unfortunately due politics every yera more & more caste, religion are included for quota, reservation and demand of people also increasing..

Reservations based on Caste/Relegion is very bad for Modern Indias prosperity and ecmonic development. Reservations should be based only on Economic conditions of people. In every Religion/Caste there are poor as well as rich people. Poor from every section of society should benefit of growth. Even there are so many poors in high class relegions/castes, but not one coming to help them and then again they have to face the wrath of reservations. Politicians are playing the peoples sentiments with Reservations card every time. lets make a stop for this for all !!!

I do agree with you Das, There should be no reservation, Everyone should be treated equally. The worst part in India is quota system for SC/ST.These people have become lazy. And all uneducated fellows got govt jobs. This has kept India back. All Indians should be treated same when it comes to jobs, education, health and sports.

Reservation is mainly adopted in Indian Politics just to promote Back Ward Communities those who are really poor in health, wealth and education. It means by leaving them behind neither their communities nor our nation will progress. Another reason was to avoid “Untouchable” rule of our cruel society. I don’t think so our fellow Christian people need reservation on these criteria. It will send wrong signal in civilized society and also increase unrest too

Christians from my experience are very beautiful(especially.....)with
a fine heart and cool mind. They hardly demand anything at all.If they have demanded anything here, it's worth looking into.A sincere advise however is to stay away from this field which is fit only for-'Shimti Nathlo Kollos'!! It's likely to spoil the 'beauty' from all angles. This I opine and write from the bottom of my heart.

It is indeed high time that the Christains get their due share and reservations. The services rendered by the community is immense. The other communities are of the view that Christains and especially Roman Catholics are well off . This is becuase they see the churches, schools, hospitals and properties that the church owns. Liitle do they know that this is all due to foresight of the church administrators who invest in far off cheap properties in the outskirts. Also little do people know that majority of Roman Catholics are actually poor and unable to make ends . If we look around we know that they also get little or no help form either their friends and relatives.Indeed with the spiralling costs in Bangalore even the so called middle class Christians have become poorer especially amongst the Anglo Indians and many others who were once quite effluent. We really appreciate the genuine efforts of our Good Shephard Archbishop Bernard Moras and hope it is worthwhile and yields fruit.

Our nation will prosper communally then no doubt. If India plans to send any people to Mars, lets have reservations in that also based on caste lines, what say!

Excellent comments by Tom Cat & Lavin Noronha. I strongly support this idea. There must be frequent representations taken in order to remind them. Its nice to know at least now this idea has come up.

And then once it happens, the choice of the person must be made purely on merit basis and not just a recommendation by somebody. He (or preferably she) must be qualified, a good orator (not just a listener) and hard working. Eg., J.R.L.

It is a very fair request that Our Archbishop Bernard Moras has made to The Chief Minister.
Predominantly it is the Christian Institutions that provide the best education not only to the minorities but to all class of people without distinctions of caste or creed. It may also been seen that it is the Christian institutions who provide health care and several homes for the poor and the neglected people all over.

I join several people in thanking Archbishop Moras for his initiative in making a legitimate approach to The Archbishop and put forward his thoughts and recommendations.

Come on....Christians & Catholics in this country are doing a yeomen service for ages by providing "Basic Education to Higher Studies and providing Healthcare through Hospitals, Old Age Homes, Rehabilitation Centers to the Destitute and Under Privileged in society.

Aren't we (Majority of us) particularly seek Convent Schools to seek admissions to get our children good "Education" nurtured (To become good civilians) by our hard working and disciplined servants.

I am a strong contender to get at least one Cabinet Ministry birth for our elected MLA Mr. J.R. Lobo Sir who is Well-Educated, Scholar, Capable, having served in Municipal Corporation (Mangalore)and above all Wise & Humble and open hearted to all communities....
    should "DESERVE" TO GET ONE".

In India Reservation is Something strange like in IIT entrance test.
    27 % for OBC
    17.5 % SC/ST
    Which religion are above ?
But for Minorities or Forward cast hindus poor people NO reservation at all.
Reservation on Reliegion should not be there at first palce .
Why Then there is reservation for OBC , SC/ST even they are Economically better off.

@jeevan, mangalore, this is the KARMA KANDA of BJP. Until church attacks Christians were never bothered about politics, nor did they bothered to vote... but now BJP has scared us too that we are not safe in our own land as infamous Dhanjay kumar of KJP(erstwhile BJP) said that Christians are not Indians. Christians were and will be peaceful as always. Now we will be a force to reckon with. Take it or leave it but you can’t ignore it.

India is home for all ( Hindu-Muslim - Christians ) but we must live in this soil as INDIAN.. we must respect all religion and must say no to superiority to religion tag morethan that religious tag is not necessary... we are all indian first. So, demanding the reservation based on religion is not valid at all.

Good gesture from Archbishop Most Rev Dr. Bernard Moras to Mr. Siddhu.

Do you guys remember.... if you rewind your memory lane,... the same was extended to Ex-C.M Mr. Yediyurappa too!!!.

See what happened in last five years period in karnataka!!!!....Church Attacks (which we never heard in south canara district for ages and so on etc. in return by the fundamentalist's ( like the Sene's!!!, Sangh's!!! & Bajrangi's!!!)

"BJP" State Administration was just a mute spectator and "Protecting the Guilty with the Law Enforcing Agencies"!!!...Shame ..... and today!!! they "HAVE PAID" the "BIG PRICE" for their deeds!!!. People are not fools to vote for BJP and bring them back to power...once again. (Out of 8 seats won 7 by congress in twin districts pg D.K & Udupi)

Isn't this sufficient to read "On The Wall" to BJP's Top Leaders?

Wish Mr. Siddhu to continue his "Full 5 Year Term" in office to work "For The People" with tireless efforts to "Build" the lost "Communal Harmony" between "All Communities" and most important is the "Development & Growth Mantra" for the "State of Karnataka" with his United Team Of Capable Cabinet Ministers.

What is the status of of cases which were slapped against innocent Christians during Church attacks? Why don't ask for a CBI inquiry or HC sitting judge inquiry about the issue.Jaganath Shetty ?Commission just safeguarded BJP Govt interest rather than victims's.There should be one cabinet Minister that goes to Bangalore(Mr George?)as two MLAs were elected and the other one was MR JRL. There was a Cabinet decision to withdraw cases pertaining Church attack in which progress is unknown. Siddu must thank H E Archbishop Moras for supporting Congress and particularly in Mangalore for showing BJP gate pass after a long gap!!Political posting will be looked in to on the basis of SOCIAL JUSTICE.
