125 stranded passengers rescued in Kashmir


Srinagar, May 16 (IANS): Around 125 passengers were rescued in south Kashmir's Shopian district Wednesday when they were caught in heavy snowfall on the Mughal Road connecting the Kashmir Valley with the Jammu region.

"The Shopian district administration has rescued 125 passengers in 25 vehicles at Pir-ki-Gali, who had been stranded due to heavy snowfall May 14," an official statement issued here Wednesday said.

"The passengers were on their way from Poonch to Shopian via the Mughal Road. The district administration rescued the stranded passengers," the statement said.
