Bangalore: Rumblings in Congress over non-allotment of ministerial berths

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, May 18: It is learnt that some aspirants for ministerial berths, whose hopes of bagging a ministry have been dashed, stayed away from the swearing-in ceremony of the new ministry held at 10.35 am on Saturday May 18 at Glass House of Raj Bhavan.

D K Shivakumar and Anil Lad, who have been sidelined because of allegations of scandals they are said to have been involved in, did not participate in the ceremony, it is gathered.

In the meanwhile, disgruntled MLCs, Motamma, Veeranna Mattikatti, Kagodu Thimmappa, Srinivas Mane, R V Venkatesh, and Mahanthesh Kaujalgi, who were hoping to find their names in the list of ministers, have decided to go to New Delhi in an effort to convince the central leadership to accommodate them in the ministry.

Supporters of Tanveer Sait, MLA from Narasimharaja constituency in Mysore, also are protesting in Mysore over the failure of the party to accommodate their leader. One of the fans of Sait, Firoz Khan, tried to commit suicide by dousing kerosene on himself. The policemen of Laxmipuram station arrested him.

Supporters of MLA from Gauribidanur, H H Shivashankara Reddy, have given call for bandh in the town, in protest against not giving ministerial berth to their leaders. However, the bandh call received lukewarm response. Some of the supporters even tried to force the owners of establishments to close their shops.

The people should perceive the situation in the true perspective. All elected members cannot be elevated to the position of ministers. Therefore there should not be any room for rumblings or grumblings. To cite only one instance - we have J.R. Lobo a very competent man with an excellent track record if not as a politician certainly as a bureaucrat. He was elected by the people but he did not aspire to be a minister - nor has lost interest in his work. We can see him already making every effort to set matters right wherever necessary.

In the scenario that the state is in, it is best that all the Members of The Legislative Assembly work with one heart and one mind for the good of the state and for the good of the people.

    Very good views.
Congress trying it's best to keep away controversies and their first step not to give ministerial berths who are still to clear some law & order cases. That only should bring confidence in citizens like you and me that this new Govt. means business and will try its best to reduce corruption during it's governance (rooting out corruption in its entirety only a fool can dream\talk). Supporting the Govt. now will encourage them to keep up with that policy.
Waiting for JANLOKPAL Bill, one just cannot be a PARROT repeating it like it does. Let the concerned make efforts like writing to the Central and State Govt. with millions of supporters signatures, through peaceful rallies to convey peoples' urgency in bringing into force JANLOKPAL bill, then there will be some results.
For some people who have representation in Govt., it will be much easier to start this (Like a relative or family member)
    Please try your best.

I agree with on all other things except stone pelting -
That has been PATENTED as only BJP's. They are masters in stone throwing (shows their pre-historic ability) and have won so many, almost every competition - it has become BJPians speciality. (they are not good at anything else!!!)
And once in a while when they lose they keep Matchboxes\can of Kerosene ready - another characteristic of BJPIans - when they lose.

Congress is trying so much to change this kind of pre-historic thinking - others have changed - but ... should Congress give up trying to "SUDHRAO"?

Party and ideology is more important than members. If they are not happy, let them resign and contest on their worn without the backing of party, they shall nbe reduced zero. Only clean images should represent the govt.. It should be a trend setting across the nation. Its not UP/bihar/Gujarat where tainted ministers are taken. If any one wants party ticket and ministerial berth, they need to stay clean throughout their public and political life.. If they instigate, put them behind bars, disqualify them and send them to jail along with Sanjay Datt.

It is true in every government formed in the past our state had this kind of disturbances since the aspirents are more in any party for Ministership. How the congress party gave the ticket to these candidates who become MLA's and now denied Minsitry stating corrouption and crimnal charges? This indicates they need such candidates for forming government and do not want them after getting majority in assembly. Why the candidates are not screened before election to avoid this kind of situation? That means congress High command failed to apply the policy before election and wanted to come in power using all corroupt & criminal elements. Minining scam started by congress government itself later on JDS and BJP indulged in this lucarative looting business. YSR Andhra CM supported reddy brothers and they could earn hefty amounts to fund BJP party to form government. Congress could not take any actions against YSR and finally they filed case and put CBI behind Jagan only after he ditched congress party and formed his own party. We wish congress give good governaance under the leadership of Mr. Siddaramayya. We had major setback for the last five years due to the distabilized government by BJP. The BJP government failed due to in fighting of its leaders, loose toungue of Eshwarappa, lack of patiency, arrogance of Yeddy and greed to make money lack of experience in corrouption. Black mailing by the mining and real estate Mafia. Hope siddu will overcome such issues.

Why did congress earlier use them as a tool during election while knows very well they are involved in 'scandals'..!! Only used them to win the seat..and now dump them as an 'hot cake'..!! Looks like people will do 'bhagawat' within congress in near future..!! Everywhere..protest/bundh before swearing-ceremony of cabinet ministers..!! Can Siddu able to complete his one year as a chief minister..!!

Power hungry people, more conscious about their right than duty.

Every party has such characters. Why they can't serve or represent their peoples grievance without being a Minister?
If they don't serve the people, who voted them, surely they will be shown exit door to become HOME MINISTERS!
