Mangalore, May 19: A bus driver was beaten to death allegedly by a group of 7 persons on the night of Saturday May 18.

The deceased is identified as Prasanna Poojary (30), son of Balakrishna Poojary and resident of Jyothinagar. His house is located near KMF.

He was the driver of a bus plying on route number 21 which goes to Neermarga from the city.

On Saurday night, he as usual parked the bus outside the owner's house at Paldane and was waiting for his friend Harish to pick him up by bike. While he was waiting, a group of seven approached him, thrashed him brutally and fled from the scene.

When Harish reached the spot he saw Prasanna lying on the roadside in a pool of blood. With the help of the bus owner he rushed him to the hospital, where he breathed his last a few hours later.

Kankanady police arrived at the spot and conducted investigations.

When Prasanna was being taken to hospital in half-concious state, he informed that Raju alias Japan Mange and Rajneesh had come in bikes along with others and attacked him, police said.

It is suspected that Prasanna and Raju might have quarrelled over some matter which led Raju to attack him brutally.

Raju, hailing from Tamil Nadu, stays in a rented house at Moodushedde. The police have begun a manhunt for him.

The body has been shifted to Wenlock for post-mortem.

Kankanady police have registered a case and investigations are on.

Mr Praveen ,what you said is correct and true. What goes around is always comes around. This driver was a nuisance on road for other vehicles as well as passengers. Recently He had fight with another bus driver near Nanthoor for silly reason and Keith Bus was taken along with Prasanna to Kadri Station. He almost killed me near Baithurly along with few passengers. He pushed my vehicle towards a stalled 18 wheeler truck. God only saved me. Then He started a argument near Neermarga Sathkar Hotel. He told me that He will hit my vehicle next time. Before that happens Almighty took care of Him. Enquire in Kadri East about how many cases are on Him.

So unfortunate that costs life nothing!!
This is one of the example that how the public buses drivers and other staff some time behave with public, their behavior, nature and way of driving. It seems when they are on wheels they forget that they are safeguarding the lives of 100s people in the bus. The Private buses are it seems worst not only in DK/Udupi districts, in the state but as a whole in India. Whom to blame and what caused for this death... now is very difficult!!JAI HO!!

Police guys cannot make magic. If there is personal rivalry then no one can keep watch on this. The victim should have carried pistol with him for his personal protection as it prevails in U.S.A. We just cannot blame police or politicians for this. This is a social crime and culprits would be caught soon and it is unfair to blame law and order.

You are inking just foolish comments concerning just installed Congress Govt.I deliberately not took the name of out Gone BJP govt because there is no point hitting dead body(BJP).The legacy of it's bad and irresponsible ruling continues...If you guys were not yet woke up by seeing BJP was chased third THUKUDA PARTY of Karnataka, then I think, it will pertinently stay third or fourth Thukuda Party in Karnataka. People of Karnatak wrote on the wall that BJP is PERSONA NON GRATA in Karnataka @ least coming 5 years.

    Corrections.....

please read as 'permanently' stay third or fourth THUKUDA PARTY IN KARNATAKA

    Reasons are...

JDS gradually but certainly taking second or first position in coming years.

A 115 seat BJP reduced to 40 seat that also one seat in Sullia due to SDPI!!!

No political pundits and foes of BJP thought it can stoop that level in terms of seat sharing!!!BSY's vote share was 10% with in two months of it birth and a national party BJP's vote share was 20%!!!!It is time for BJP internet Karsevaks, blind supporters and politicians to introspect and to prepare to LS election to get @ least 2-3 LS seats.Anyhow, BSY again vowed against BJP to make BLANK in LS also!!!!

Dear Ismail Bhai, for your kind info, Karnataka always gone against the odd when it comes to reality. Entire India opposed Indira Gandhi during Emergency Period but she won the election in Karnataka, so it shows “Kar Natak” is not new to our State. Just look at the Times-Nielsen’s exit poll conducted between 01st May’13 to 10th May’13 in four major States like Maharashtra, UP, Bihar & Delhi, BJP is sweeping like anything. In UP & Bihar, Congress pushed down to corner like a non-existing Party. Out of 172 Seats’ exit poll, BJP is leading with 90 Congress may gain at 30 odd Seats only, rest all gone to SP, BSP, etc. If you look at the division of total vote garnered by Congress in Assembly Election and if you allocate them to region wise for MP Election as it is, Congress will win only 7 Seats. Don’t dream about wiping out BJP from Karnataka. They will bounce back like phoenix from the Ash. Now it’s no secret how Congress won the election especially in Coastal Region. Just wait and watch, same trick will back fire Congress in MP election. Moreover let our Siddlu run the Cabinet business for next 6 months and then we see which Party is better?

Actually these people who attacked and murdered the driver, forgot to tell the police in advance what they were going to do and where.
Police definitely would have been there to prevent or at least catch the culprits IMMEDIATELY.
Next time if any one wants to attack, molest, rape, steal, murder please inform the Police in advance the location of the crime you are going to commit, the time and the number of people involved so that enough policemen and Vehicle to take them away plus an ambulance to vacate the dead and wounded.
From all the above comments the above is very necessary.
For all those arrangements Bollu will be in charge....

It was good recommendation for giving employment to all and education to all. That's good point.
Before that everyone should be UNITED... no blame game.. not to be greedy but work together for the progress.
We should leave our ego and accept that BJP has lost. Not to be stubborn.
Just give congress a chance let they work, let them develop our place. if you need any changes then hearty with a polite way request rather than making hate comments.
good work should be appreciated rather than searching for mistake in it to criticize.

Very sad incident and a young a up-coming youth has been killed. This is the good lesson for all human beings because there is a reason for this murder but it should not have happened, even no one is authorised to kill some one. They would have consider the victim by giving some punishment instead of killing. Now the Music is started and let them play according to the tune for life time. It's a common among the drivers of the general transport, some time they do not know what they do, when they sat on the driving seat of the Big Bus or any big vehicle, they think that they are boss's and their behavioured in such a way, they think, there is no one is there to ask them, the way they act and use of language n their looks.

Anyway, now the law will takes it's own course and the time will tell the truth. Whoever killed the Driver they have to pay price for their crime/mistake, which is doesn't liked by the Earth even our havenly Father. They killers or whoever did this act, they may hide or escape from the authority, or can hide and seek but the punishment they will get without any doubt, let them prepare them-self, because the young blood is keep on crying until it get's the satisfaction even the family peoples cry and tears will cost their down fall. Let's pray for the departed soul to rest in peace and Lord Almighty give his family people and relatives and friends, strength, peace and bare the lose of their loved one's. Let his Soul Rest in Peace. Amen

In India there is no punishment for murder.Otherwise how can anyone explain there is hardly any conviction even after so many murders that have taken place right infront of people. The murderers get scot free due to lack of evidence and with the help of unscupulous lawyers.Police harass the witness instead of criminals.India should learn something from gulf countries if it is serious to control crime.

    May his soul RIP!
This is goondaism. The seven should be identified and punished severly.
As the victim was a driver, I would like to make a point here. Every person who drives on road should follow descipline and should not involve in petty fights on road for whatsoever the reason (like not letting way, honking loud at others etc.. )Very importantly the people should stop taking law into hands whenever a road accident occurs. It is a common scene that whenever serious accident occurs on road, people pounce on the driver and start thrashing him. Wonder who gave them this authority?? and moreover would it solve the problem? Accidents, as name indicates is not intentional activity, so it should be let for police to deal with it. Our primary responsibility should be to help the injured.

This may not be in anyway related to death of this city bus driver but I felt that it was imperative to make this point here. Who knows if this driver was involved in any petty fights or any accident in the past which might have costed someone's life or may be any other reason not related to roads at all. Whatever the reasons may be, it should be taken care by police alone and not the public. One of the ways to restrict public from taking law into their own hands is by enforcing rigid laws and severe punishment.
