Mangalore: Close shave for five fishermen after boat capsizes

Mangalore, May 19: Five fishermen had a narrow escape on Saturday May 18 after their boat capsized off Alive Bagilu here.

‘Sea Rack’, the fishing boat owned by Noorshah from Ullal capsized due to the rough sea.

The incident took place at around 6.30 am, when the boat left for fishing from the old port.

As per the information obtained, as soon as the rough waves hit the boat, water entered in and as a result the boat capsized.

The five fishermen namely Ravi, Uday, Madhukar, Vignesh and Shiva who were in the boat were rescued by the nearby ‘Image’ boat.

As it was a wooden boat, a loss of Rs 20 lac had been incurred, said boat owner Noorshah.
