Puttur: Konkani Natak Sabha Golden inter-parish singing contest kicks off

Puttur, May 20: The ‘Golden Inter Parish Konkani Singing Competition’ hosted by Konkani Natak Sabha was inaugurated on Sunday May 19 at Puttur parish.
The event, which marks the 50th year of inter-parish singing contests organized by Konkani Natak Sabha, will have two levels of competitions culminating with a grand finale in September 2013 at Don Bosco Hall.
The programme was inaugurated by Puttur vardo vicar var V Jerald D’Souza by lighting the lamp along with assistant parish priest of Puttur parish Fr Vishal Monis, parish priest of Maril Church Fr Francis Assisi D’Almeida, Uppinangadi parish priest Fr Victor D’Souza, general secretary of Konkani Natak Sabha Sunil Menezes, joint secretary Lynette P Kamath and Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla, Mangalore).
Speaking on the occasion, Fr Victor D’Souza wished all the participants every success.
Competitors from Puttur, Maril, Kokkada, Sullia, Uppinangady and Bannur parishes of the Puttur varado participated.

Under 10 years

Above 15 years
Ladies solo - Amitha D’Souza, Uppinangadi and Joyline Melita Louis, Maril
Gents solo - Joswin D’Costa, Puttur and Suraj Joseph Lobo, Uppinangadi
Ladies duet - Helma Menezes and Nishel D’Souza, Puttur,

Felix Sequeira from Urwa, Prem Lobo and Jude Fernandes from Milagres were the judges for the competition.
Adolpus Cutinha enacted jokes on the occasion, much to the delight of the audience.
Raymond D’Cunha welcomed the gathering and compered the programme, Sunil Menezes proposed the vote of thanks and Lynette P Kamath announced the results.
