Ajman: GMC Hospital hosts grand doctors meet

Ajman, May 20:
GMC Hospital, Ajman hosted a grand doctors meet recently in the Gulf Medical University campus wherein leading medical experts were invited to participate in the seminar on ‘Recent trends in medicine‘.

On this occasion, chief guest Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, chairman of the Ruler’s Court, Ajman honored nine leading obstetricians/ gynecologists from Dubai and Northern Emirates in recognition of their exemplary service and support to GMC Hospital, Ajman. 

Thumbay Moideen, founder president, board of governors, GMU  was the guest of honour at the doctors meet 2013 which was held as part of the CME program on obstetrics and gynecology, internal medicine, nephrology, general surgery, pediatrics,  and  pathology at the Gulf Medical University (GMU) Campus in Ajman. 

Akbar Moideen Thumbay, director operations, healthcare and retail division presided over the special event.  “Our endeavor is to recognize the contributions made by doctors in their specialty, highlight their achievements and thank them for their support and encouragement extended to GMC Hospital.  This is a token of our appreciation and we wish to conduct this ceremony every year,” said Akbar Moideen Thumbay.

The following were the recipients of the special award from Sheikh Dr Majid Bin- Saeed Al Nuaimi :  Dr Marie Elias  -obstetrician and gynecologist, Marijeh Medical Centre, Sharjah, Dr Meenakshi –obstetrician and gynecologist, Advanced Medical Centre, Ajman,  Dr Archana Gupta - obstetrician and gynecologist,  Dr Sunny Medical Center, Sharjah, Dr. Annama Mathews -Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Abraham Medical Centre, Sharjah, Dr Ibtesam Al Kaabi - obstetrician and gynecologist, International Specialists Medical Centre, Ajman, Dr Fathima Iqbal - Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Al Muhaisnah Polyclinic, Dubai, Dr Grace Sunny  - obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr Sunny Medical Center, Sharjah, Dr Kulsoom Masood - obstetrician and gynecologist, Al Kamal Medical Centre, Sharjah, Dr Reshma Gurnani - obstetrician and gynecologist, Al Shams Medical Centre, Sharjah.

Leading experts from GMC Hospital, Ajman like Dr Prashanth Hegde, obstetrician and gynecologist spoke about ‘Acute abdomen in pregnancy, diagnostic dilemma and role of laparoscopy in management’, Dr Mahir Khalil Ibrahim Jallo, assistant consultant and associate professor in internal medicine delivered a talk on ‘Modern modalities of treatment in diabetes’,  Dr Manish Tripathi,  specialist nephrologist in internal medicine delivered a talk on  ‘Chronic Kidney disease in diabetic patients, Dr Imad Aouda  Emnaker Alsadoon, consultant pediatrician, spoke on ‘Vitamin D earn more than a passing grade’, Dr Mohanad Mohamad  Sultan, specialist and lecturer in surgery, delivered a talk on ‘Recent advances in management of hemorrhoidal disease and  Dr P K Menon, director-administration and institutional research delivered  a  talk on molecular diagnostics: Its role in human disease detection and prognostication’. 

All the above leading experts were honored with special mementos by Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi and Thumbay Moideen.  Later, Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi gave away special prizes to lucky winners of the raffle draw held during the event.

GMC Hospital, Ajman, Bodyand Soul Health Club and Spa, Ajman, The Terrace Restaurant, Zo and Mo Opticals were the main sponsors of the grand event.

A total of 1000 invitees out of which 520 medics participated in the grand event which was accredited by the ministry of health for 6 CME hours.
