Karnataka budget in July first week: Siddaramaiah

Mysore, May 20 (IANS): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said Monday he will present the budget in the first week of July, the first after Congress returned to power in the state after nine years.

Siddaramaiah, who holds the finance portfolio, indicated he was not planning to present a budget of Rs.100,000 crore or more but it would be based on the resources available.

His Bharatiya Janata Party predecessors, Jagadish Shettar and D. V. Sadananda Gowda, had presented a budget of over Rs.100,000 crore and claimed it as a credit as previous non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) governments in the state had not done so.

The on-going programmes of BJP government would continue while he will decide on the new programmes announced by the Congress ahead of the May 5 assembly poll, Siddaramaiah told reporters in this town, 130km from Bangalore.

The Congress wrested power from BJP in the assembly poll 5 and Siddaramaiah who took over as chief minister May 13 Sunday allotted portfolios to his 28 ministers keeping finance department for himself.

He has earned name as good finance minister presenting seven budgets, five in a row, when he was in the Janata Dal governments in the state.

Siddaramaiah joined the Congress in 2006.

The Govt should not put VAT on medicines as medicines are not consumed by people as a luxury but a source of welfare measure . It is sad to see in India that medicines are taxed by the Govt.

Revised Budget OK. But what that CM Ibrahim is doing always sticking to Siddu like Siami-Twin. Ibrahim has been defeated from Bhadravati and pushed to third place but still he is prominent in the Power corridor of Siddu. Why ?
Why this extra constitutional Powers always inflict Congress ?

Well, that might be a food for thought question! But if you followed aftermath of resignation of Siddu to JDS in way back 2006,CM Ibrahim followed Siddu and they were and are close friends till date. Now if I stick for your logic, imagine if your friend become a minister or any upgrade status lets say he may won lottery of billion dollar and thus becomes wealthiest man or lets say he may ed for higher govt post or etc etc can he forget/avoid you as an friend?if so, what would be your action?

Coming to your doubt, both CM and CM went for a political campaign for a by-election that necessitated by the death of BJP candidate as both are Congress leaders.

Apart from that CM Ibrahim is a political adviser not only for Siddu but people like BSY also taken advise from him.Fielding CM Ibrahim in Badravathi in eleventh hour is a wrong decision of Siddu and due to his (Siddu)insistence CMI was made candidate!

Certailny,CM Ibrahim will be given MLC and I am even not ruling out that he will make it to Siddu's cabinet.

I am sure present government will not force people to watch them on a daily basis for corruption, moral policing, violence as was the case with the previous government. As long as the state is governed well without fanfare and bragging there is every chance that this government will be voted back to power after 5 years.

Siddu who has expertise in financial management of the state will introduce QUALITATIVE BUDGET rather tan BJP's QUANTITATIVE which they used to boast frequently.

Aftermath of his swearing in as CM of Karnataka, he d sops for poor citizens over Rs 4100 Crore which need budgetary allocations to cement the sops.Budget could be pro development and pro poor.A record 8th time Budget presenter knows pros and cons of State exchequer. All the best SIDDANNA.
