Mangalore, May 21: “Organizing the youth and co-ordinating the football game is not an easy task. When football in Mangalore was extinct, D M Aslam toiled a lot to preserve the game," said Sadanadana Shetty, chairman, Sri Devi Educational Trust.

He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the 2nd Pally Jayaram Shetty Memorial Inter District Football Tournament organized by the D K District Football Association, Mangalore, and Karnataka State Football Association, Bangalore, in Nehru Maidan on Monday May 20.

"Players should play with a sportive spirit. Winning and losing is a natural phenomenon in the game but losers should never lose hope and instead should try to achieve success,” he said.

As many as 11 inter-district teams will be taking part in this competition.

Sadananda Shetty, symbolically kicked off a football to inaugurate the football match between Bangalore and Belgaum.

On this occasion, Mohammed Ameen, president, Canara Chambers of Commerce, Ganesh Hosabettu, corporator, D M Aslam, chairman, D K District Football Association, Krishna Moorthi, Krishnoji Rao, Abdul Lathif, Naveen Shetty, and Mohammed Basheer were present. Mohammed Husain welcomed.

We are fed up of Cricket.
So, encourage Foot Ball in a big way.
To the North of our District we have Foot Ball crazy Goa.
To our South we have Foot Ball loving Kerala.
But in the middle we have Cricket crazy Tulunadu.
In all the matters there is similarity between the people of Goa & Tulunad except the love for Games.
