Facebook booked over group exhorting cow slaughter

Lucknow, May 21 (IANS): An FIR was Monday registered here against social networking site Facebook on a complaint that claimed a group on the site exhorts people to slaughter cows, police said.

The site was booked under penal provisions and under the Information Technology (IT) Act, 2000, on the complaint filed by senior police officer Amitabh Thakur.

In his complaint filed at Gomtinagar police station, Thakur alleged that a Facebook group 'Aao mil kar kaaten Gaay' (Let us come together and slaughter cow) openly exhorted and glorified cow slaughter.

The first information report (FIR) was registered under Indian Penal Code's sections dealing with provocation with intent to cause riot, public nuisance and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace and Section 66 A of the IT Act.

"It also has extremely abusive and dirty words by various users against Hindu and Islam religion and also against the Prophet Mohammad and Hindu Gods and Goddesses. These dirty words and abuses are of such nature that they are wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony, and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace," the complainant told IANS.

Thakur said that in past he had registered four more FIRs of similar nature but since no action was taken in these cases, such incidents were recurring.

The complaint said the Facebook Inc. was criminally liable because it had not taken due precaution as warranted under Section 79 of the IT Act, despite repeated directions.

"Freedom of Expression" is a fundamental right but is not absolute one. IT is subjected to certain restrictions.....

Why not government think of banning the Fb. well many such thing are running in it, hurting the people, religions etc. Many major incidents too have occurred due to this. Every one knows that after Delhi Rape case. Many prostitutes posted thier pics as that is the victim of the Rape.

A stage has come that the children are ready to give up eating than chatting on Fb.

So banning Fb is the best solutions for all these....

This is called politics. People can not see everyone living in peace and harmony. The people who can hoist Pakistani flag in India, can stoop to any low to destroy peace and cause enemity among Indians.

Sheer disregard to religious sentiments of particular religion.

One must have faith in his/her own relgion but should not hurt the sentiments of fellow beings relgion. Religions are made by human beings. With God there are no relious divisions (by faith)

Looks like, some miscreants want to create disharmony among people & society. Let peace prevail and Love for other fellow being cherish.

I just wish to remind my muslim fraternity that they are going against the teachings of Islam and tradition of our prophet.. Allah in his holy book Quran clearly says that "donot abuse the Gods of others lest in their ignorance they abuse your God...". We should always respect the sentiments of feelings of others..Prophet Muhammad said that dont slaughter an animal infront of other animal..Even if some one slaughters it should be done very discreetly without offending others. A muslim cant be a muslim if his neighbours are unhappy about him.. Islam calls for good and brotherly neighbourly relations.. Islam also dictates that muslim should wish both the known and strangers...I ask Muslim fraternity to teach the Islamic teachings to their dependants...If some one throws pig head on to the mosque, no mosque shall become unholy.. Just throw it and clean it. If a dog bites cow, cows milk doesnt get contaminated. Milk shall remain pure. No body can desecrete a holy place...Holy will remain holy throughout..If some one has abused others places of worships and books just forgive them as they dont know the true messages and they are doing it out of ignorance or out of poverty just to get few bucks at the instance of their masters... Peace is ultimatum.. Om Shanti.

Facebook closure won't cleanse the world of evil.
Cleanse their Minds when they are growing, lead by example.
Knife can help cook good food as well as kill, banning it won't stop murders, 'cos it depends on the user's mind.
Ignore them, when they let their frustration out & they get no response they will stop doing ungainly postings.

There were some unsaid norms in India...Pork and Beef were neither sold nor consumed to respect each others ideologies. However this balance is being shaken with the increasing consumption of Beef.

We must respect our religion and should not hurt the religious sentiments of others religion. Religions are made by people but there are no divisions with God by religion.

This incedent may be a foul play by some miscrant who wants to create communal disharmony in the society. Bad very bad.

One should not hurt the sentiments of any religion. The way of life, the culture, the food habit, worship of God of each individual/religion is different in our country but, but these things should never hurt the feelings of others. Facebook is a social web-site but at times people take the liberty for granted. We have the freedom of speech but it should not annoy others as well. Use the site for good work, if u cann't.. just keep away. Don't spoil the mind of innocent people..

People who spread hatred among religions are misfits in a society. Hating or glorifying religions should not be tolerated. All religions are equal. There is no superior or inferior religion.

Freedom of speech or opinion is our privilege but shouldn't be misused.
Should be truthful as well as intention should be good!
Freedom will be snatched away from those who misuse in a matter of time! it is law of the nature!

Good are desired and the bad are discarded!
