Kundapur: 25 injured, 4 serious in bus-lorry collision

Kundapur, May 22: A tourist bus and a lorry collided near Ampar bus stop here on Wednesday May 22 morning, resulting in injuries to 25 persons.

The tourist bus, belonging to BPS Travels, was plying from Shringeri to Kollur and the lorry was moving towards Siddhapur carrying paddy from Sirsi. The lorry belongs to Abdul Khadar Andalgi.

The tourist bus from Tumkur was taking 38 Tamil Nadu passengers to visit various temples.

Speaking to daijiworld, passenger B Chelum said that they were from Krishnagiri district. They left from their native place on Monday May 20 midnight and reached Shringeri, after which they planned to visit Kollur Temple. When they reached Ampar, the bus collided into the lorry.

As many as 25 persons sustained injuries, and among them, four are said to be serious. They are identified as Shiva (10), Dorairaj (45) and Kannamma (45), and the lorry driver. It is said that the lorry driver also broke his right leg.

The bus driver identified as Mahadev also sustained injuries.

All 25 injured have been shifted to Kundapur government and private hospital for immediate treatment.

A case has been registered in Shankarnarayana police station.

    There was a road hump earlier at this junction. The removal of road hump might be the reason for accident.

    One can make out the impact of the accident, in what speed both vehicles were travelling. If our RTO very is strict, such accidents can be avoided. But, unfortunately our RTO is strict after the accident.

    Poor quality of drivers now a days make lot of accidents,I believe.At the same time poor quality of Roads & Circles make more Collision.
