Beltangady: Daring cock thief caught in police camera!

Beltangady, May 23: A person, who was audacious enough to enter the police station and take away a cock, was nabbed by the policemen with the help of closed circuit television (CCTV) footage.
The police had raided a spot in Mungelu in Odilnala village in the taluk where a cockfight was on. The police team, led by assistant superintendent of police (ASP), Kuldip, had arrested five persons, besides taking into possession ten cocks. After obtaining court’s permission, the process of auctioning these cocks was held on Wednesday at the police station.
After auctioning nine cocks, the police personnel found that the tenth one had gone missing. Even after detailed search and making enquiries, they could not make any headway.
As the police station has recently been equipped with CCTV, ASP checked its footage, and found that one of the persons who had participated in the auction process, had taken away a cock, without getting noticed by others. The people had thought that he had bought the cock in the auction.
The cock thief has been identified as Diwakar Poojary from Melantabettu village. A case of theft stands registered against him.
