Mangalore: Nalin Kateel slams CM over plans to bring Krishna Math under govt control

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (VM)

Mangalore, May 23: Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel in a statement released to the media on Thursday May 23 expressed strong opposition to chief minister Siddaramaiah's statement that the state government was planning to take control of Udupi Sri Krishna Math and Gokarna Mahabaleshwar Temple.

Siddaramaiah, in an interview to Outlook magazine, had said that steps would be taken to bring Sri Krishna Math and Mahabaleshwar Temple under the muzrai department, as he believed that these religious places belong to the people and should hence be regulated by the government.

Reacting to the statement, Kateel said, "Going by the statement made by chief minister Siddaramaiah, it looks like the government is playing with the religious sentiments of people over here. This policy by the state government will be strongly opposed by the BJP.

"Maths have their own tradition and each has a unique identity, and devotees too have their own beliefs with regard to these temples, and that is why maths have been formed. Various pujas and rituals have been followed since ages in these temples and hence it is wrong to bring them under government control," he said.

"Government should not hurt anyone’s religious sentiments nor harm the traditions of these temples. If the government goes ahead with its plans, BJP will hold a massive protest," Kateel warned.

Kateel cautioned that BJP will mobilize people if Siddaramaiah attempts to frame polices that go against their religious sentiments.

Siddu has a personal interest to change the look of Udupi temple from what it is now to a shrine exclusively for Kuruba community that he represents. He made a lot of noise in the past under the pretext that Kanakadasa was from Kuruba community and he was thrown out by Brahmins and Udupi owes it's eminence to Kanakadasa and thus Kuruba community from somewhere in Mysore are the legitimate hiers to this temple. This time wearing the Chief Minister's hat, he is doing whatever possible with power that comes with the chair. Me personally, knew that he would come after Udupi temple the day, Congress got majority. The timing although is a bit surprising, considering that general elections are not far away. And all the Kateel bashers, please oh please read between the lines. Kateel knows that there is going to be a major issue and he wants BJP at the forefront to gain full benifit from the controversy our honorable CM is needlessly raking. Power shedding issues, Rs. 1/Kg rice, bringing governance back on its heels will all be brushed aside.

Why so much "Hue And Cry"... by our MP Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel!!!!.

    If you read once again....

Siddaramaiah, in an interview to Outlook magazine, had said that steps would be taken to bring Sri Krishna Math and Mahabaleshwar Temple under the:

    "Muzrai Department",

as he believed that these religious places:

"Belong To The People And Should Hence Be Regulated By The Government"!!!!.

Dear readers,BJP wants to play once again their gimmick of "Hindu Vote Bank Politics"

Thank Heavens that we have a Elected ( Absolute Majority!!!) and then, secret ballot voted Chief Minister Mr.Siddaramaiah is a Hindu... and from Congress Party!!!....

Imagine...if suppose he was from the minority community (Non-Hindu) there would have been a full fledged "Drama" by the BJP today at "KAR-NATAKA".

That's their true color. Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel is just reminding the voters of D.K. and Udupi for the next coming "General Elections".

People of Karnataka elected congress only because they tired of BJP state rule, but the alternative government is doing the same thing, the way minorities are commenting on the issue it will lead to communal violence in undivided DK. Mr Naveen Kumar Kateel, its very much expected this statement from you. No wonder in it. Since you and your mentors have realised that under the current situation it is not at all possible to win the next Loksabha election in DK for BJP. Hence you need to find out your favorite strategy, that is creating communal disharmony. And people have expected it and we all know you will start it now itself. You dont need to bother if Govt. takes charge of any temple. Your BJP Govt. has done so many nonsense when in power, why you didnt oppose? Your govt, minister and MLA wholeheartedly organised open rave party in the Temple town of Udupi. Why your any organisations did not oppose that? Come on, grow up Mr. NK Kateel!

Woke up after a long time. Develop habit to speak in Loksabha in whatever language you know. Looks like there is no job to do in Mangalore...hence going behind temple issues! Majority people are thinking beyond religion and place of worship. They are restricting it to personal life! Do not try to take advantage on religion sentiments!

I think we all should read the fine print once again-The CM has said
'Krishna Math'not Sri Krishna! Those who have made a place for 'Sri Krishna' in their hearts need not worry in any case.....
