Car festival - 'Puttur Bedi' provides exhilarating experience

Puttur, May 24: The annual car festival of Lord Mahalingeshwara Temple and traditionally famous 'Puttur Bedi' were held on the night of Thursday May 23 in an environment filled with devotion and celebration.

After the morning rituals, Darshana Bali procedure was held. Darshana Bali of the Lord was organized at night.

This was followed by 'Puttur Bedi', a splendid show of colourful fireworks, which painted the sky with multifarious colours and designs.

The large gathering feasted their eyes with the glimpse of the bursting of different varieties of crackers for about an hour, towards which the temple management spent about Rs 5.5 lac this year.

The chariot, on which the Lord’s idol was seated, was pulled thereafter by the devotees. The entire surroundings of the temple were brightly lit for the purpose, and lacs of people took part in the celebrations enthusiastically.

    Awesome pictures. Thanks for Daijiworld coverage. I always tell my children that fireworks what I have seen during my childhood days in Puttur is far better and more beautiful than what we see here in the gulf. On the last day of festival the fireworks lasts for about 2 hours. Fantastic job Daijiworld Congratulations and keep it up.
