Dubai: Curtains raised on 'Tulu Parba', gala event lined up

Dubai, May 26: The curtain raiser for the upcoming 'Tulu Parba 2013' by Tulu Koota was held on Friday May 24 at Quick Bite Restaurant, Deira.

The event started with a welcome speech by K R Tantry.  C R Shetty, convener of UAE Tulu Koota Dubai spoke about the Tulu Parba and briefed about the current local government regulations on the associations, which forced to reschedule the Parba for June 21, 2013 at Al Nasr Leisureland Ice Rink.

Karnoor Mohan Rai, one of the guests for the Tulu Parba 2013, spoke about his fruitful association with the Tulu Koota Dubai and also mentioned about the release of Tulu movie “Telikeda Bolli” in GCC countries.
 
Manohar Hedge, entertainment coordinator gave an insight of the Parba. The highlight of the Parba will be comedy trio Devdas Kapikad, Navin D Padil and Bhojaraj Vamanjoor with their live skits for about an hour and their rib tickling humorous acts. A live band performance by Harish Sherigar & his troupe will add colour to the event.
 
Dr Mohan Alva, chairman of Alva’s Foundation, Moodbidri, Umanath Kotian, president, Tulu Sahitya Academy, Dr K P Putthuraya and Karnoor Mohan Rai will be the guests.
 
Jasmita Vivek, a budding local choreographer will present a unique dance drama “Tulunadu” and skit by Gammath Kalavidaru headed by Vishwanath Shetty and Vasu Shetty.
 
This year’s  Tulu Parba will have stalls/exhibitions and cultural programmes from different Mangalore associations across UAE. There will be games and other activities of Tulunadu to keep enthusiastic Tuluvas busy.
 
The finale will be the grand Tulu procession with tableau and folklore artistes depicting the rich culture and heritage of Tulunadu.  Satish Shetty, Chidananda Pojary, Dinesh Shetty, Rajesh Kutthar, Jaganath Bellare, Ramesh Suvarna and Prabhaker Shetty, Oswald and Jayanth Shetty will be leading the team.
 
Daya Kirodian, treasurer of UAE Tulu Koota Dubai, presented the budget of the Parba and requested support from all  the communities and Associations to make the event successfull.
 
Tulu Koota have personally invited presidents / leaders of all the Mangalorean associations and requested to support this Tulu Parba 2013 to make it memorable as always.

K R Tantry in his address, requested all the media to give maximum mileage to this event and thanked them for their continued support and proposed the vote of thanks. A Mangalorean style lunch was served to all.
