District ministers: Rai gets DK, Sorake-Udupi, Jain-Chikmagalur, Khadar-Kolar

Bangalore, May 27: Ahead of the maiden session of the newly constituted Karnataka assembly, chief minister Siddaramaiah has announced the appointment of his ministerial colleagues as ministers  in charge of the districts and also for monitoring the implementation of the 20-point economic programme.

As per the official notification, Forest minister B Ramanath Rai will be in charge of the Dakshina Kannada district while urban development minister Vinaya Kumar Sorake will be in charge of the Udupi district.

The other two ministers from the undivided coastal Dakshina Kannada – Abhayachandra Jain and U T Khadar – will be in charge of Chikmagalur and Kolar districts respectively.

Senior Congress leader and Medical Education and Tourism minister R V Deshpande has been entrusted with the responsibility of the Uttara Kannada district.

While film star Ambarish has been put in charge of Mandya district, V Srinivasa Prasad is in charge of Mysore and Dr H C Mahadevappa, who is very close to the chief minister, has been put in charge of Hassan and Kodagu districts.

    Khadar as Kolar DIC Minister ? Why a District so far away ? I think Siddu forgot that Kodagu is nearby.

    DISTRICT IN CHARGE MINISTRY IS THE LICENCE GIVEN TO LOOT THE DISTRICT AND NO OTHER HAS THE AUTHORITY TO INTERVENE IN THIER AFFAIRS.
    THE LAUGH THEY GIVE SAYS CLEARLY WHAT THE DISTRICT IN CHARGE MEANT.
    THERE IS NO INSTANCES OF DISTRICT IN CHARGE MINISTERS CONCERNED ABOUT PROBLEMS OF THE PEOPLE IRRESPECTIVE OF PARTY TO WHICH THEY BELONGS TO. FOR VOTERS THE DAY START WITH THE PROBLEM AND END WITH THE PROBLEM. FOR MINISTERS IT IS WITH DRINKS & EATRIES.

    As it is from the past,is that means the Ministers will be busy in cutting ribbons and attend foundation stone laying and inauguration functions.... Then how they will be able to carry the Ministry works? I suppose it would be better for other elected non-ministerial MLA to get this InCHARGE duty.....

    Khader to Kolar ??? He could have given Kodagu rite as its near. It will be a hectic travelling for him. No airport also in Kolar. Will tell UPA to make a New Airport soon in Kolar. Veerappanna, Oscar plz tell High Command and do the needfull for Khader.

    This district in charge minister concept is in for quite some time now. However how much it is successful or useful is a debatable matter. In my opinion it is better to allow all the ministers to be dedicated to the ministers they handle their individual constituencies. district in charge responsibility can be entrusted to senior/experienced MLA of that district(excluding the ministers from that district)

    Allocation of in - charge responsibilities to the Ministers does not look LOGICAL. Instead of overburdening the Ministers, let other MLA's do their duties.

    The in charge ministers should visit all govt offices and take a stock of pending files. OR else the public should be given a chance to lodge a complaint with them if their files are pending more than one month and this should be taken seriously by the ministers. If this exercise is undertaken, then every one knows where we stand and it will be a case like DOOD KA DOOD, PANI KA PANI.

    INSTEAD OF GIVING DISTRICT INCHAGRE TO THE MINISTERS,IT SHOULD BE GIVEN TO OTHER MLAS.THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN WORKED AND DEVELOPED THE DISTRICTS.ANYWAY MINISTERS ARE BUSSY WITH THEIR PORTFOLIOS,NOW WHY EXTRA BUDREN ON THEM..?

    Why there is change in IN-CHARGE Ministers all of sudden?IN-CHARGE Ministers are CONSTITUTIONAL?Mr Khader and A.Jain has three assignments 1)As an MLA in own constituency 2)As an Minister for entire state and as an In charge Minister!!Now these tasks for one individual could do justice to citizens? A million dollar question.On the other hand now a days In- charge Ministers are just confining their respective Districts.A debate about in charge- Ministry creation is over due.

    ISMAIL.K.PERINJE, PERINJE-YANBU/KSA, the concept of IN-CHARGE Ministers is not new. If I am not wrong this was started by Ramakrishna Hegde. To control the power of ministers & tide their leadership to district level only, he made this arrangement!!!!!.
