Sharjah: GMC Specialty Centre hosts Medical Meet

Sharjah, May 27: GMC Medical & Dental Specialty Centre, Sharjah recently hosted the Medical Meet 2013. To mark the occasion a seminar was held whereby eminent doctors participated and spoke on various topics related to the event.

Dr Prashanth Hegde, chief of Medical Staff of GMC Hospital chaired the event.

Chief Guest of the event Prof Gita Ashok Raj, Provost of Gulf Medical University emphasized on the importance of Continuing Medical Education for the practicing doctors which enables them to keep abreast with the latest development in medicines.

Leading experts from GMC Hospital Dr B D Sarkar, MD (Internal Medicine) spoke on the topic of ‘Hypovitaminosis D’, Dr C S Kumari, MD (Pediatrics) delivered a talk on ‘Vitamin D – The Sunshine Vitamin, Dr Praveen Kumar Pande, MS (Orthopedics) delivered a talk on ‘Osteopetrosis’, and Dr Jyoti Pande, MS (Gynecology) spoke on ‘Role of Cervical Screening in CIN and its management’.

Later, Prof Gita Ashok Raj honored the Speakers by presenting them with mementos in appreciation of their continued encouragement and support given to the faculty and staff of GMC hospital. Dr Manvir Singh Walia, Medical Director- Operations, GMC Hospital and Dr Prashanth Hegde presented a special memento to Prof Gita Ashok Raj.

Around 45 doctors participated in the Medical Meet 2013 which was accredited by Ministry of Health for 04 CME hours.
