Bangalore: Inspector suspended for 'allowing' obscene party, resort owner arrested

Bangalore, May 30 (DHNS): Siddalingappa, the former Circle Inspector of Police, Doddaballapur, who failed to act against a complaint that a dance party was held at S R Valley Resort at Ghati Subramanya in 2009, was suspended from duty on Wednesday.

Besides, the resort owner and his son have been arrested.

Bangalore Rural police finally took action after almost three years, when a pro-Kannada organisation made public a CD of what it claimed was the video of the said party. The disciplinary action against Siddalingappa was taken based on the interim report submitted by the Additional Superintendent of Police, S Nagaraj. Siddalingappa, currently an Inspector with the District Criminal Investigation Branch, KGF, has been accused of dereliction of duty.

Sampangi Ramaiah, who owns the said resort, and his son, Chandrashekhar alias Chandru, have been charged under Sections 294 (obscene performance) and 354 (outraging modesty of women) of the IPC. They have been sent to jail, D Prakash, SP, Bangalore Rural, told reporters.

Police were likely to make a few more arrests and three teams have been formed for the purpose. Search has been launched in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh, besides Bangalore, Prakash added. Govardhan, the then manager of the resort, and two representatives of JRV Agrichemicals — the Kurnool-based firm which reportedly organised the party — are “absconding”.

“We will arrest them soon. A few cases have been booked against Govardhan at Yelahanka and Devahanalli police stations,” Prakash informed, adding that the said party — held on October 9, 2009 — lasted a day; around 70 men and eight women, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, took part in it.

When asked about the reason for arresting Ramaiah when he had lodged a police complaint in 2010, after the said CD came into circulation, Prakash said that the former violated terms of the licence. “Liquor was served at the resort in clear violation of the licence. He also remained silent for a year and did not inform the police,” the SP claimed.

Meanwhile, Sampangi told the police that he had received continuous blackmail calls. The callers threatened to release the CD and “expose” him. He lodged the complaint after he was tired of such calls, he reportedly told the police.

Prakash admitted that the police personnel committed some lapses. An inquiry is being conducted to ascertain the role of the  lower-rung officers. Stern action would be taken once the final report was submitted, he added.

I am sure nothing will happen to the culprits. The reasons are many. Even we forget this incident within few days, for sure. All of we know very well that no one is punished till today for such acts even though such cases happened many times irrespective of BJP/Cong/JDS governments

Jeevan, your frustration is understandable. It becomes more obvious when it has to do something against Congress. Anyway, amidst your frustration, your perseverance is highly appreciated. You never give up. Keep writing....it's fun....By the way, you can be a good adviser for any Government.
