Congress bags Periyapatna, BJP faces massive defeat

Daijiworld Media Network – Mysore (SP)

Mysore, May 31: In the keen tussle between chief minister, Siddaramaiah, and former chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, to snatch victory in Periyapatna assembly constituency, Siddaramaiah has emerged the winner. Congress candidate, K Venkatesh, who was also elected in the 2008 election, was declared elected again from the constituency, defeating K Mahadev of the JD(S).

With the victory, Siddaramaiah has asserted his supremacy in his home district, and the number of Congress MLAs in the state assembly has risen to 122.

Congress candidate got 62,045 votes, as against 59,957 mustered by K Mahadev of JD(S). All the other candidates including BJP and BSR Congress fared very badly. BJP stood at the fourth position with just 3,731 votes, losing the deposits too. BSR Congres stood third with 5,669 votes.

JD(S), which led till the completion of the fourth round, started lagging behind thereafter. The difference of votes continued to show ups and downs, but the Congress candidate maintained the lead thereafter till the end.

Election to the constituency, scheduled for May 5, was postponed to May 28 on account of the death of BJP candidate, Sannamoge Gowda. BJP replaced him with R T Sathish, but failed to make any impact on the electorate.  The polling percentage here was an unprecedented 83.84 percent.

With the Periyapatna victory, the Congress has taken eight of the 11 assembly seats from Mysore district.

The Congress victory has dashed the JD(S)' hopes of becoming the second largest party in the assembly. It is now tied at the second spot with BJP as the two have won 40 seats each.

The remaining 22 seats are shared by smaller parties and individuals. One member is nominated to represent the Anglo-Indian community.

The sole reason for BJP's shameful defeat is the tears of innocent minority. The injustice caused to minority during its rule. The tears of Nuns who dedicate their life to serve the needy and sick, irrespective of religion.

That constituency was in fact Vokkaliga Majority where HDK camped there for a week to get it by hook or crook. It is bastion of HDK but when Siddu cross over to Congress the winning candidate Venkatesh followed Siddu.Coming to the good show of JDS,a National Party BJP in fact, given up before war could start and only muster less than 3500 votes !!!!If BJP goes like this deep slumber, perhaps it would behind SDPI in coming days!!

Congratulations to K Venkatesh Congress Candidate, its moral boost for CM Siddaramaiah, Periyapatana is strong Vokaliga dominated area where fight is between Congress & JD(S), BJP has no base here, even then BJP losing its deposit and coming fourth place after Sreeramulu's BSR Congress is humiliation for a national party. BJP will not be able to win a single seat in Karnataka in upcoming Lok Sabha election, as it has no charismatic leaders, Ananth Kumar, Sadananda Gowda & Eshwarappa can't get them a single seat, best option is for them to merge with KJP or compromise with Yedurappa and get him back to the party, that will improve their prospect. In that case Yedurappa can resign his MLA seat and re-contest again on BJP ticket from Shikaripura, he will definitely win there, as no one can shake him, then BJP will have 41 seats, make him leader of the opposition, and rebuild the party, other wise BJP will be Zero in Karnataka. In politics anything is possible.

Karnataka election was Quarter Final for Congress, the real semi final begins when the assembly election will be held in end of November or early December- for states of Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan & Andra Pradesh, Congress hold no chance in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi & Madhya Pradesh, it may retain Rajasthan- that looks 50-50. After these elections, its Lok Sabha Election. It will test Congress as Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Admi Party may cause upset especially Delhi & other North Indian states. So guys please don't jump the gun.
As history repeats- when Congress rules Karnataka, its opposition ruling at Centre. God should save us from these corrupt politicians.

BJP spokespersons on TV Channels murmuring congress going, going and gone since 2-3 years. It seems that Govt will complete its 2nd term also without any hassles. In the present scenario you can predict that BJP will be in the opposition bench for the 3rd consecutive term. Good luck next time !

There is surely a Congress wave in the state. Congratulations to our CM and the people of Karnataka for giving full majority (122 seats) to Congress Party. However, Congress should do well in all the states in order to come to power at the Center in 2014. In Andhra Pradesh, Congress has to do a lot due to the popularity of YSR Congress there. Some blunders are committed by the Congress leaders there and the High Command has to rectify these mistakes. It is better late than never. Congress has to retain those MP seats which they had won in 2009 all over India the look for more seats. I hope Congress will get at least 210 seats in 2014 General Elections for Lok Sabha and form a Govt. Jai Ho Congress!

In developed countries like Uk,US people do analyze the party and also candidates who can proper their country and they vote for right candidates . Their discussions are on issue based . Their vision is very clear. Its totally based on whats right and whats not. But here in us its totally different. Its simply based on parties however bad they may be. One time Jd, one time Congress and other time BJP depending on parties same rotten cycle continues. Bihar is a appreciated exception where illetrate people realized they have no future with rotten corrupt parties and they voted for priosperity. Nevertheless Sonia must be saying big thanks to all of us for saving her from the various embarrasments she and her government is facing now a days !! ha ha ha !!!
