Kaginele Swamiji backs govt control over Krishna Math, Dr Heggade differs

Daijiworld Media Network – Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, May 31: Sri Niranjanananda Puri, spiritual head of Kaginele Kanaka Guru Peetha in Haveri district, has opined that Sri Krishna Math in Udupi and Gokarn temple in Uttara Kannada should be brought under the control of the muzrai department. He gave this opinion while participating in a debate conducted by a media house. He noted that Sri Krishna Math is often involved with one controversy or the other.

He also demanded for adopting sheep as the national animal of India. “Sheep is a superior animal when compared to cow. Sheep have also got prominence in ancient scriptures. They eat unwanted vegetation and give milk. I had raised this demand earlier too, when Jagadish Shettar was the chief minister,” he said.  He however, hastened to add that his intention is not to identify sheep with any particular caste or community.

Madara Channayya Swamiji said it would be unfair for an individual to take decisions on taking over administration of religious institutions based on his own thinking. He said demands like these are unwarranted, and a decision can be taken only after holding extensive discussions with all the concerned.

However, speaking at Hassan, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, opined that it is improper on the part of the government to take over Sri Krishna Match in Udupi and Gokarn temple.

He was responding to queries raised by presspersons during the re-consecration of Hallada Rameshwara temple standing in the compound of Ayurveda College at Hassan with help from Dharmothana Foundation Dharmasthala.

“There are technical snags too in taking over Sri Krishna Math. Priests are not involved in the Math. Instead, the Swamijis perform the daily puja. Traditionally, the management of the Math changes hands once in two years. Traditions will be compromised if the Math is taken over. This does not bode well for the Math. If there are any issues, the government can ask the Math to take corrective steps,”he opined.

Dr Heggade also said that after Gokarna temple was handed over to Sri Ramachandrapura Math, the devotees have become happier.

“An environment of spirituality can be experienced there now, as against the previous administration when the devotees faced difficulties. Cleanliness is also maintained. If certain changes are to be made, the government can give instructions. These administrations will bring these changes into affect like we did at Dharmasthala earlier,” Heggade said.

He however, stressed that taking over the administration is not a desirable move.

Shashi, you shouting from top of your voice and criticizing our CM from Canada won't make any difference to Sidhu. People of Karnataka have kicked out wicked govt. and chosen the right govt. With regard to beating our hearts out, Shashi, we have tackled worst than these issues peacefully and through legal channels and are able to stand against evil with our faith in God. Wish you a pleasant stay in Canada.

Ravi Shetty Mangalore, yes, all other religions also to be brought under govt. control and every religion should be given equal benefits. However, if equal benefits are given to other religions also, like allotment of land to Mutts and Temples, no land will be left for people to live in Karnataka. Also, govt. treasury will be empty if other religions are also given donation in Crores as it is given to Mutts and Temples.

There should be a new law such that people can eat any food of their choice! Religious fanatics...please practice food of your choice...do not peep into others plates and protest about their food!! Losers always find fault on others food habits!! Do not come on the way of your neighbors choice of food please!! This kind of cheap attitude is seen in DK only!! In Bangalore you get beef without hassle and better price!! Can anyone stop beef eaters in Bangalore, Keral or Mumbai??? Then why is the fuss in Udupi/ Mangalore??

The law of the land should be the same for all. If Udupi Krishna Mutt is to be taken over then let the same rule be applied to all places of worship irrespective of the religion. If this govt can do it then it will be appreciated by one and all but thats not going to happen because it is a clear cut political decision.

I beg to differ...What do you mean by.....
Your comments .....RATHER THAN SOME "UNEDUCATED CM" RUING THE LIFE OF PEOPLE.

Come-on... don't go round the bush..we are talking here only about Karnataka in Particular...Is Mr. Siddu (C.M) is "UNEDUCATED CM"!!!!

For your information, he (Mr.Siddhu) is from a poor background by virtue!!!. There is no doubt about it..and he belongs to "Kuruba Community"(Cattle Grazing!!!)but he is educated enough to lead the State and studied "Law". I am of the opinion that he is a "Gentleman", having simplicity & a Humble Opposition Leader, and now people of karnataka have "First" reposed their faith in "Congress Party" and then he became the C.M of the State by getting maximum votes!!! by way of secret ballot voting from other contenders from the same congress party.

You being at Canada passing such cheap!!! comments like this is very sad know.

    Dear Vincent,
C.M. Siddu is B.Sc. LLB from Mysore University.
He has presented 7 State budgets.
He got more than 2/3 votes from MLA's in secret ballots.
This much is more than enough qualification to be the C.M.
India is a vibrant democracy and hold of elite class is loosing, people have reposed faith in shepherd community leader! So great!
Like in USA, Obama was chosen to be their President, so we have Mr. Siddaramaiah!

Very true Sir. But the elite class of karnataka is still cannot digest the bitter truth.

What we need was a capable, meticulous, humble and one who is "Matured" enough (...presented 7 State budgets) to know the "State's" problems and broader issues to develop and take it forward the growth-path unlike the predecessors have ruined the state's Exchequer.

Even though it is a private matter of other religious people, I have a few question here.
a.Is Kaginele Swamiji is the owner/trustee of any temple.
b,If yes, then is that temple is under govt. control
c, Why govt. has to interfere in Udupi Math as it is a private matter. The duty of the govt. is to deliver the best governance, not to disturb. But if there is a inequality, then govt. can implement policy with consultation with like minded people for equal treatment to all, of the same faith & believers only.

Religious and political leaders, please burry your differences with the religious leaders and do not upset the people . Let us all live a peaceful life.
