Udupi: Love-struck youth stabs teenage girl for refusing marriage

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Jun 2: In a startling incident, a love-struck youth allegedly stabbed a young girl after she refused to marry him. The incident took place at Ambalpady here on Saturday June 1.

The accused has been identified as Abdul hailing from Jharkhand.

It is said that on Saturday morning, Sneha (17, name changed), along with her brother and uncle, had gone to a stream near Pallavi rice mill for fishing.

Abdul, who saw her from a distance, approached her and expressed his love and asked her to marry him.

Sneha rejected him and said that she was still in college and had no plans to get married, and that she did not have any feelings for him.

Angered by her response, Abdul took out a knife from his pocket and allegedly stabbed the stab on her neck. When the girl screamed her brother and uncle rushed to her, and seeing them, the frightened Abdul fled away.

The girl was admitted to Ajjarkad district hospital where she is recuperating.

Abdul, who is from Jharkhand, does the work of assembling tiles for houses. He was staying in a rented house in Sneha's neghbourhood.

Udupi police have registered a case.

Mr. Abdul If you would have been a serious lover , you would have allowed her to take her decision by her own and you would have waited and waited till she confirms you to marry her. looking at your decision what we feel is you never loved her you were just attracted of her that's all.

    Hi Eskey,

Thank God, you have very good self-control over drinks & somoking. Please continue to do so.

To confess myself - I did not suceed in giving up these habbits but I keep everything under control. My wife failed advising/praying for me. (huttu guna gatta hathidaresa hogu dilla)

I am so happy that within a months time of my being in this forum, I have come accross such a lovely guys to coomunicate with.

Bhandarkarmam, we will meet one day in M'lore.

    Hi Flavian / Bhandarkarmam
No smoke / no drinks. Hard to believe I know. It is true. I have had my occasional beers during my days at MIT. I have never smoked. I do not want to confess (today) what all we did (rather what we have not done) at MIT Manipal. Stopped drinking even those occasional beers soon after coming out of MIT, years before my marriage. Bhandarkar Sir, It was by choice (not by force). In our ‘Pokri’ gang at the college, I was the one responsible (being the only ‘gandhi’ in our team) for ‘delivering’ my friends safely to each one’s house after every session. Funniest of the incidents was when I got drunk!! for the first time and most probably the last, during the wedding of my friend’s brother. When I came out of the wine shop opposite Lions Club Hall (marriage venue) Bramhagiri, I could hardly keep my steps. I did not have courage to go home that day. I boarded the Mysore Bus from Udupi and slept little over 4 hours all the way to Sullia to my aunt’s house. Till today my parents do not know why I went there all of a sudden.
When I travel abroad I accept a glass of red wine on the aircraft usually along with my wife (not mandatorily, when I am travelling alone on work, I do not drink). I have a policy – I don’t buy drinks / tobacco products for self or to entertain others. At the same time, I never give advice to others on this matter. My friends (a small group, though) know it. So they don’t force me to drink/smoke when I am in their company. Life goes on like this. So far so good.
I agree with you Bhandarkarmam, that eerie silence still prevails in our neighbourhood. Although my wife doesn’t appear like a growling lioness (to my neighbours), I pretend like a ‘squeaky male lamb’ in my house to conserve that precious silence. I enjoy your ‘fishy’ comments Sir, Keep rocking.

    Hi Bhandarkar,

Your comments makes me feel so happy and I go on laughing to myself both in my heart and my face expression. My colleagues sometimes are perflexed to see this change in my face.

For your information, I am not far from Ashoknagar. Originaly, I am from Highlands, but now staying in Bijai.

Have a good day. Time to concentrate on my work.

    Dear Flavian-
EE 'Sundari' Ashoknagar-Vishaya-Yenka Doubt Oondu Maharayare! For the simple fact that I live round Ashoknagar, and for the past few decades and I have not come across
'Possessive Male Tigers' but only 'Squeaking Male Lambs' who are being threatened of the 'Slaughter House' every next day! I have heard
and listened to 'Growling Lionesses' and that's about it! Otherwise there's always an eerie silence in and around Ashoknagar!
And 'Eskey' confirms that's the same in and around Udupi! See he does not even drink and smoke! It's not his will but somebody dear(!) has forced him to be a Gandhi!
Hmm-Something 'Fish'Y Eskey! You reminded me of 'Sharanu' the other day-didn't you??

    Sundari,

You have expressed what took place before and after the married life.
Great sacrfices and patience. God bless you.

In my openion man(married) is possessive about his wife, because he loves his wife. I am one of them. Let other married men put forwad their point of view.

35 years back I got married to a person I imagined, I loved him. After some meetings, when I said I do not want to marry him, he told me that he will shoot me with the gun he possessed and shoot himself later. I thought if he does that my sisters who are 5 in number will be affected since I was the older one and I did not want my parents to go through all the questioning later on. Then I said yes and now we have completed 35 years. He is very possessive, sometimes very rude but now I live for my daughter and son. If I had stood by my word then? I cannot imagine. Aisa bhi hota hai.

Amidst above such incidents , only boys are blamed by society and media . Physical assault is wrong , but no one knows real reason. I seriously do not thing it as ` first sight kind ` of crush , may be they involed since long time. The girls are very intelligent in switching sides and creating a ` story`. But we can also see such girls , getting married at age as young as fourteen ( not illegal since courts have quashed charges upon consent of girl ) . Education does not stop , some continue even after marriege.

    The Article says:

"Abdul, who saw her from a distance, approached her and expressed his love and asked her to marry him."

Isn't it so riduculous that the love developes on the spot (love at first sight and advances follow) or they were having secret contacts with each other over the time.?

By the way, where are our Mangalore
    Heroes ? Conducting back stage
study or scared of Moral polices?

I am glad that she took the courage to converse with him and boldly refuse his advancing. The men had their attention on fishing - whats wrong with it ?
