Heavy rains lash Kerala, early monsoon in India

Thiruvananthapuram, Jun 2 (IANS): With the onset of monsoon, Kerala was lashed by heavy rains for a second straight day Sunday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said conditions were favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh in the next 48 hours.

Kerala received the first bout of monsoon rains Saturday.
