Udupi, Jun 8: Vinay Kumar Sorake, district in-charge and urban development minister along with Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi MLA paid a surprise visit to Udupi district government hospital here on Saturday June 8.

The minister, who expressed happiness over the condition of the hospital, interacted with the hospital staff and the patients.

Addressing reporters, Sorake said, "The hospital bed capacity will be further increased from 125 to 250. Discussions in this regard are being made. Work force is satisfactory."

“Any problems related to the hospital will be considered as our problem and a solution will be found at the earliest through the state health minister (U T Khadar),” he added.

Anath Nayak, district surgeon said that the hospital requires an additional 40 doctors and that the government should do the needful. The minister assured that it will be done.

Pramod Madhwaraj said that he will visit the hospital once every month. "An expert will be appointed to furnish a report on the needs and requirements of the hospital, and the same will be forwarded to the government for further action," he added.

Sorake and Madhwaraj also met a woman who was sitting sobbing in the hospital and asked her the reason for her grief. She said that she had lost her husband, and that his body was in the hospital mortuary, but there was no ambulance to take the body to Bagalkote where they hailed from.

Responding to her problem, Sorake spoke to the hospital authorities to make all arrangements to shift the body to Bagalkote, while Madhwaraj said that the expenses will be borne by the government.

Dear Ramesh the car that the minister travels in is the District Vehicle and not His vehicle .. The DC is responsible for the maintainance of that vehicle..this car is not just used by the minister but all other guests who arrive in the district..So it is VIP vehicle and certain amount of privacy must be allowed for such guests and politicians let them have peace atleast when they travel all through their hectic schedule!! Don't be so irresponsible when you comment.

    Dear Hedgeji,

    Read the supreme court judgement

    http://dinakaran.blogspot.in/2012/05/supreme-court-judgement-on-sun-control.html

Now tell me, where is the provision given of exemption for ministers/district cars. Are you above the honorable supreme court to decide what is right and what is wrong? If yes, then I understand. I am surprised how can you give such a vague reply, even after hailing from the city of intellectuals - Udupi

Mr.Ramesh my point is you can't Blame the minister as the car is a district vehicle.. Why wasn't MR.RAMESH PRABHU raising the same issue when the BJP was in power the same car was still in use and if you could kindly check almost all and believe me almost all the cars used by the BJP ministers had tainted glasses I have personally seen them as they were parked near a government Building. Why dint you question them? Just because u don't have anything else to target congress or its government u r pulling up this issue .. Learn to appreciate the good initiative taken by the minister and the MLA.

Very Good Job. The frequency of visit should increase not only to the hospital but to Taluk Office and other Government offices. Some of the village accountants and Panchayat office bearers are not doing their job properly. They are expert in Harassing public as I myself has been experiencing this since last two years. For just a simple job it takes more than 2 years in spite having all documents intact.

Good! Elected representatives should pay periodic like this visits to Hospitals, School/ Colleges, Ration shops, Police Stations Markets, Traffic junctions etc. to assess the ground realities and bring about improvements.
    IGNORE Critics !
for they will criticize if MP/ MLA/ MLC don't do their work
and criticize even if they do their work also!

If this good work will continue, I’m sure we will land up in having a One of the Model State in India. Great work Mr. Sorake & Mr. Khadar.

Mr Sorake, you as the Minister in charge for the Udupi district, we kindly request you to visit the Taluk office in Byndoor and find out how the public is running from pillar to pillar. The local MLA Mr Gopal poojary has no times for such visits and he has not yet completed his victory celeberations. God save our state from such lazy govt staff. One should learn from Bhatkal MLA who lost no time in visiting the taluk office in his area and sternly warned the lazy staff. Mr Dinesh Poojary of Kundapura has rightly commented earlier about Byndoor MLA.

What a show and a joke! He paid a "surprise" visit. Hello, I am coming there, it should be a "surprise".

He finds a woman sobbing, makes an instant decision "to make all arrangements to shift the body to Bagalkote" - whose money it? Doesn't it look like we are in Saudi or some African dictator country?
People, grow up! . This is for real.

May be they might have passing by Udupi Hospital. I appreciate for their positive comments since most of the Leaders always blame Hospital Authorities after the surprise visit. They promised to appoint 40 Doctors which is nothing but same like Congress Voting Promise. Let them bring at least 4 Doctors first and then talk about rest. Increasing another 125 Hospital Beds in current building which is near impossible too unless they accommodate bunk bed system like labour camp we have in Gulf Countries
