Mangalore, Jun 9: The Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV) on Sunday June 9 organized a thanksgiving programme for the public for defeating the BJP, and an interactive session between the people and the ministers and MLAs from the coastal region, wherein the latter answered questions posed by the people. The programme was held at St Aloysius College auditorium.

The programme was presided over by Gowri Lankesh, editor of ‘Gowri Lankesh’ weekly. The rights on behalf of the general public were put foward by K L Lokesh, state chief secretary, KKSV.

Oscar Fernandes, Member of Parliament, Blossom Fernandes, Ramanath Rai, state forest minister,  Vinay Kumar Sorake, Udupi district-in-charge minister, J R Lobo, MLA, Mangalore south constituency, and Shakunthala Shetty, MLA, Puttur constituency were present.

All the people’s representatives responded to people's concerns and queries, which were written on sheets of paper and handed over.

In his reply, J R Lobo said that the coastal belt of Karnataka state had been highly affected by communal people. “The people of Mangalore have voted wisely and supported communal harmony and peace, thereby removing the communal party from the root. Only 0.1 percent of the population in Mangalore is communal and they have been spreading communalism, especially among the youngsters. Voters have opted for change in this election and it is our duty to live up to their trust. We all need to strive hard to find a permanent solution to communal problems and maintain the peace in our constituency and the state,” he said.

Ramanath Rai said that the Congress government led by CM Siddaramaiah is not in favour of any particular religion or community, and that it is against saffronization. "The government will not allow any fundamentalist or communal outfits to flourish here. Some of them even tried to stop me but I defeated them in elections," he said.

"The place Kalladka is a factory of lies. People are being led in the wrong path. When minority persons become fundamentalists, it becomes a problem for society, but when persons from the majority community become fundamentalists, it poses problems for the entire country," he said, adding that Congress will strive to provide a clean administration.

Shakunthala Shetty congratulated the voters for making the BJP lose the elections. “People of the Sangh Parivar forcibly stop the vehicles of those trafficking cattle. This is appreciable, but do not harm the people in the vehicle or damage the vehicle and cause disharmony. Steps have to be taken to ensure that the people who forcibly stop the trafficking take each cow along with them and look after them. People who indulge in trafficking as well as the ones who don’t look after the cattle need to be punished strictly,” she added.

In her presidential address, Gowri Lankesh said, “We had first started the KKSV to stop the saffronization of Baba Budangiri. Nearly a thousand people had come together at that time for the protest. We were jailed during those days, not by the BJP or the JD(S), but by the S M Krishna-led Congress government.”

“People of the coastal area were suffering due to the BJP’s rule in the state. Very shameful administration was provided by the BJP to its voters. Hence, people are fed up, so the BJP has been kicked out from the state. Communalism has been completely buried in the coastal area after the downfall of the BJP,” she said.

M Venkataswamy, Chudamani Bangera, and Prof K Phaniraj were amongst those present on the occasion.

As a member of Legislative Assembly
Madam Shakuntala Shetty, while commenting or in lectures should have kept law and order in mind. It amounts to advising the people to take law in to their hands. There is police department to look in to all such cases. It may be the legacy of her earlier party which was in her subconscious.

All the dignitaries on the dais have come singly, except one leader. When this leader (?) always comes with his wife every where just like Saimi-Twin, it looks very funny?

Healthy sign of a progressive democracy to have a dialogue on a public forum. People should ENCOUNTER their elected representatives time and again. This culture was missing during BJP regime, especially when people needed their ministers/MLAs to respond to grievances. One example that comes to my mind is when people of northern Karnataka ( including mantralaya) went through severe flooding and threw normal life into complete chaos. Many people, cattle, live-stock lost life property n houses got severely damaged. Government of that time was indulged in resort-politics, led by infamous Reddy gang. District in-charge ministers, MLAs of that region never bothered to help people and never bothered to make one courtesy visit. Instead they sat in resorts n posh ac rooms . Government had no funds to help people. There was major drive to collect donations and money, many people gave their one day salary. Even this amount is not distributed to flood affected people, instead that money went into pockets of corrupt leaders led by yeddi n reddy. This was actually the height of apathy.

There are good leaders in congress who come from majority community and they understand importance of social harmony among various communities. Whoever takes law in hand or whoever goes against wishes of the constitution must be subjected to judicial process irrespective of majority or minority community, irrespective of faith n beliefs.

There is no single way or no perfect journey of life prescribed so far. No one with authority can say - this is THE only way to love life or follow something. Being moderate in our approach and practicing tolerance will help people blend together. 'Kalladka center of excellence' is propagating flawed ideas that are aiming at division of minds. I have good friends who keep faith in kalladka preachings, but in day-to-day interaction with me, they cannot practice those ideas bcz we have to keep aside differences and move forward with common good.

What a senseless & stupid comment from communal Ramanath Rai that when minority persons become fundamentalists, it becomes a problem for society, but when persons from the majority community become fundamentalists, it poses problems for the entire country. Mr. Rai how come minority fundamentalist are problem only for society & not the country, do the minorities are citizens of only society not the country. All these congi leaders have only one agenda Appease the minorities

KSV, after elevation of Modi found the need to rejuvenate, Congrats.
No parts of the developed word could prosper with fascist attitude.
Fascist forces have initially bring about development and finally collapsed never to rise again.
Human instinct nature is moderate, and it naturally attempts to protect the weak from un-fair dominance bullying!
Fascist forces can think of dominance against natural forces working against it!
