Mangalore, Jun 12: St Aloysius High School here held election recently for the students council to elect the representative for the new academic year 2013-2014.

As a preparation for the election, the students gathered in the hall on the previous day. Two supporters for each candidate made a speech on behalf of their candidates, highlighting their abilities and requested for the vote. The pre-poll opinion was taken and Vaibhav was expected to win the election. 

All the students gathered in the hall with great enthusiasm to select their candidates. All the contestants gave inspiring speeches to attract the voters both in English and kannada. Then the students moved to the booths to cast their votes. The counting took place in three rounds. There was a live debate with the candidates.

As expected Vaibhav Devadiga won the election by 371 votes. Bernard Nehal D’Cunha, 135 votes and Prashobitha got 115 votes and secured third place. Other candidates were Karan and Surendra who got 4th and 5th place respectively. The headmaster announced the winners and congratulated them by wishing all the best. The students gathered in the school assembly to celebrate the victory in the elections by lifting up their winning heroes.
 
Assistant headmaster thanked Francis Mascarenhas, the chief election commissioner for co-ordinating the election process and all the teachers for making the programme a grand success.
