Karkala: St Antony's feast celebrated at Belman shrine

Karkala, Jun 13: The annual feast of the St Antony's shrine, Pakala, Manjarapalke, Belman was celebrated on June 13.

Mass began at 10:30 am with Fr Valerian Mendonca, chancellor of Udupi diocese as the main celebrant and a total of14 priests concelebrated the mass.

Above 3000 people were gathered for the feast mass, the shrine was seen with devotees from  7 am to 9 pm; around 2000 people visted the shrine including non catholics.

After mass refreshments such as coffee and puff were distributed to the gathered crowd.

The shrine committee has recently purchased 21 cents of land close to the current shrine property which includes 2 acres of land.

Gregory Menezes, vice president of Belman church; Alwyn Agera, secretary of St Antony shrine announced certain changes in the organisation of the feast day next year, stating that a lunch would be provided for all.

Fr Lawrence D' souza, parish priest of Belman church delivered the  vote of thanks to the attendees of the feast.

    happy feast to all brothers and sisters ,happy to see so big crowd at pakal ,i am sure more more people are getting favours from st antony every year .i hope and pray very soon there will be a big church at pakal ,pakal st antony pls pray for us .we all thanku for ur kind blessings in our family .

    thanks to pakal st antony for granting his blessings to so many more and more people .also i am happy to see and hear that someone contribution for tea and pups to all devotees ,may pakal st antony bless them .
    but when it will happen weekly??every tuesday??why there is no any novena every tuesday?why not managing committe and parish priest not taking any strong steps in this matter?is there any problems?what happen to the stone laid by mangalore bishop?after that not done any civil work for new prayer hall by fr. lawrence ??why is he cooled down ,may be he not blessed enough from pakal st .antony?so giving lunch to all devotees next year is some what easy job some one will contribute money and caterer will show is hard work ,but starting weekly novena and starting a saturday evening mass is very difficult. when will this start by managing committe with fr. lawrence ?or we have to look forward still some more years ?please awake fast let more people come to pakal shirne and get blessed by st antony as he blesssed to us if more land is acquired why not so far started any civil work for a big prayer hall or church ??is parish committe happy with so small chapel which was built 20 yrs back (or more )?jai ho pakal st antony ,pls pray for us .
