Bangalore: At last, sulking D K Shivkumar takes oath as MLA

Bangalore, Jun 13: Senior Congress leader and former minister D K Shivakumar, who had been sulking at being denied ministerial berth in the Siddaramaiah-led Congress cabinet, finally took the oath as the member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Thursday.

All other members of the Assembly have already taken the oath before the commencement of the formal proceedings of the Assembly session which was concluded on Wednesday.

Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa administered the oath to Shivakumar in his chamber.

Former Assembly Speaker and senior Congress leader Ramesh Kumar, who was also denied cabinet berth on account of the murder case and other alleged land scam against him like the alleged irregularities in the mining scam against Shivakumar, was also present.

State Congress President Dr G Parameshwara called on Shivakumar at his residence and advised him to take oath as member of the Assembly as it would send a wrong message to the people and amount to disrespecting the wishes of the voters of his Kanakapura constituency if he failed to take the oath as MLA.

Shivakumar, who had gone on visiting temples and pilgrim centres when assembly session was going on, said he was busy in ''personal work and other political activities” and explained that there was a delay in taking oath.

The former State Congress Working president, who was upset for not giving him the Cabinet berth, told reporters that some leaders within the party and freedom fighters projected him as “tainted” to deny ministerial position in the Congress government.

Freedom fighter H S Doreswamy had written letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to keep Shivakumar out of the State Cabinet for allegedly being involved in the illegal mining scam.

''Some vested elements worked against me to deny Cabinet berth and curb my political career,” Shivakumar said

The party was above all members and he would abide the decision taken by the party high command on formation of the Cabinet by the Chief Minister, he said.

Instead of being in Cabinet, shortly he will be in Jail.
Because based on Petition by Social Worker S R Hiremath, the Supreme court is going to tightened the CBI noose around DKS neck for acquiring Iron ore from a Govt undertaking at throw away price and exporting it at exhorbitant rate to China when he was a minister in Dharamsingh govt.

What Ismail said is true. If DKS shares some portion of his wealth with H-command, automatically H-command will give green signal for him before LS election. Ismail knows this truth.

Ismail, he should prove that he is innocent in the judiciary system, not in party office.

Congress high command don't need any convinces that its pudaaris are innocent. They are innocents as far as they are congis and kick backs reachs the party fund and the accounts @ taxfree heveans in europe. From Robber Vadra,to sharad pawar to kalmaadi to Anil lad to Dkshi to kurian, none needs to prove their innocence. All are cleansed with milk as far as they represent Kai party.

    Dinesh/Sharath..

Do you guys think all these politician's case are stand in the court?Or do you have conviction ratios politicians who are indulged in corruptions? Before inducting Ministers in Karnataka all personal files of the inductee with police reports are examined by AICC legal cell.

This ministry of Siddaramaih is one of the cleanest and corrupt free council of ministers in recent times of Karnataka political history. Siddu likely to take national attention for corrupt free such a long career in politics. Before election almost 60% readers not liked Siddu with out knowing his history and after some years you guys will hail Siddu's proven track record of spotless political life.FROM THE DAY ONE I DID SUPPORT SIDDU FOR HIS LOVE TOWARDS HAVES NOT AND CLEAN IMAGE IN SUCH A LONG POLITICAL LIFE.

I am not acquainted with DKS illegal mining either by proxy or direct. But there are accusation by Veteran Freedom Fighter and yesterday he re iterated that he has proof for that while DKS says he will prove innocence in the court of law..

    People,

This DKS few decades back( In 70s) was supplying tea in MLAs hostel in Bangalore and sleeping in HD Deve Gowdas room for free(this was told by HDDs son HD Revanna's in assembly and its on the record).

Now he owns atleast 1000 crores of property in and around Bangalore...and everybody knows that.

When SMK was CM this fellow was controlling everything in Government.... as a minister.

Now he is one of the candidates for CMs post and my friend from Yanbu wants him in the cabinet before LS elections...

God save Karnataka and our Country from these type of people...

DKS should convince Congress H.Command and public that he has nothing to hide with regarding to illegal mining. Some are how his luck is against him!During D.Singh/JDS govt,JDS succeeded in keeping him out of ministry and this time around when he was short listed for one of the contender for the CM post in fact not able to make to cabinet!!!!Politically Mr DKS is powerful Vokkaliga leader who has good future in politics after getting clean chit from the illegal mining.Congress needs his service but unfortunately, due to cleanest Govt ever in the recent history Karnataka,Siddu headed govt hesitant to induct him.Anyhow, before LS election Congress leadership may forced to induct him to Siddu cabinet?

dear Ismailji, If your DKS convinces Congress H Command & public that he & his bros has nothing to do with Illegal stone mining, then even Reddy Bros, Yeddi, Renus, Shobakka, HD D Gowji, HDK, can also convince high/command & public that they have nothing to do with what they are defamed for.
