Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jun 17: A six-year-old girl named Safa, daughter of Ibrahim living in Panaje, accidentally fell into a pit dug for erecting concrete column in the compound of Panaje primary health centre in the taluk on Sunday June 16 evening.

No one was around when the tragedy occurred. The girl was not seen after 6 pm. Her parents, who went searching for her, found her body in the pillar pit at about 8 pm on Sunday. It is guessed that Safa would have slipped and fallen into the pit while playing there. The girl’s relatives have accused contractors who have undertaken the construction work there, of gross negligence.

A case in this connection was registered in the rural police station here.
