Kasargod: Young singers shine at Konkani Natak Sabha contest

Kasargod, Jun 18: In commemoration of the golden inter parish Konkani singing competition of Konkani Natak Sabha, Kasargod Varado Inter Parish Singing competition was held on Sunday June 16 at Kumbla Parish here.

The singing competition was inaugurated by Parish Priest of Kumbla Parish  Fr Marcel Saldanha by lighting the lamp along with joint secretary of Konkani Natak Sabha Lynette P Kamath.

Speaking on the occasion Fr Marcel Saldanha wished all the participants every success.

In both the categories 42 Competitors from Kumbla and Bela parishes of the Kasargod Varado participated in the competition. 

The following competitors qualified for the semi final:

Below 10 years:
Solo – Renita Crasta, Bela and Telvita Lenesha Crasta, Kumbla
Duet – Joyel D’Souza and Telson Crasta, Kumbla
Mixed Group: Telsita Lenesha Crasta and group, Kumbla

10 to 15 years:
Solo - Jyothi D’Souza, Kumbla and Prinson D’Souza, Bela
Duet - Franklin D’Souza and Arpit Monteiro, Kumbla
Mixed Group - Jyothi D’Souza and group, Kumbla
  
Above 15 years
Ladies Solo - Deepti D’Souza, Kumbla and Savitha D’Souza, Bela
Gents Solo - Milton Crasta, Kumbla and Raju Stephen Crasta, Bela
Ladies duet - Leera D’Souza and Rojli D’Souza, Kumbla
Stejith Crasta and Vinilda Prema D'Souza, Bela
Gents duet - Maxim Monteiro and Milton Crasta, Kumbla
    John Joyal D’Souza and Joswin D’Souza, Bela
Mixed Group-  Deepti D’Souza and Group, Kumbla
  Raju Crasta and group, Bela
Married couple : Ashok and Sunitha Crasta, Kumbla

Felix Sequeira from Urwa, and Babitha D’Souza from Valencia are the judges for the competition.

Raymond D’Cunha welcomed the gathering, proposed vote of thanks and compeered the programme. Jossy Theodore introduced the judges.

Prize distribution ceremony for the qualifier of Semifinal was held after the competition. The prizes were distributed by Parish Priest of Kumbla Parish Fr Marcel Saldanha. Lynette P Kamath announced the results.
