Mangalore: House damaged in landslip at Maroli

Mangalore, Jun 18: A landslip occurred near Maroli temple on Monday June 17, damaging a portion of a house.

People residing in the house had a lucky escape as they were sleeping in the living room. The landslide completely damaged the kitchen area.

The incident took place at around 11.30 pm. The owner of the house Umavathi (50) rushed out as soon as she heard the sound of falling mound of mud.

Her mother Sundari (70), children Dayanand (33), Hosantha (30) and Prashanth (28) escaped unhurt. A loss of Rs 2 lac has been estimated.

AW Naresh Shenoy, assistant engineer Laxman Poojary, corporator Keshav Poojary visited the spot.
