Kundapur: Citizens of Shiroor honour MLA Gopal Poojary

Kundapur, Jun 19: On Tuesday June 18, a felicitation was accorded to recently elected Byndoor legislator, Gopal Poojary. The function, organized at Sri Venkataramana Hall in Shiroor, was held under the aegis of Shiroor Rural Congress Committee.

President of Green Valley School in Shiroor, Syed Abdul Khader Bashu, honoured Poojary on behalf of the party and citizens of Shiroor.

Thanking the people of Shiroor for the felicitation, Gopal Poojary informed that a decision has been taken to solve drinking water problem of the village by constructing a vented dam. He said that Shiroor will be recommended soon for the implementation of Suvarna Grama scheme of the government.

“A proposal for re-asphalting of national highway at a cost of Rs 75 lac has been submitted. This work will commence immediately after monsoon season. The district deputy commissioner has inspected the sea erosion spot at Kalihitlu village, and the work on constructing protective wall for a stretch of about 200 metres there will begin in two to three days,” he explained.

The MLA also profusely thanked Syed Abdul Khader Bashu for joining hands with the government in its development initiatives, and conceiving the dream of developing Shiroor into a model village through his trust. He then honoured Syed Meeran Charitable Trust president and philanthropist, Abdul Khader Bashu.

Abdul Khader Bashu in his address announced that Syed Meeran Charitable Trust will give Rs 5 lac towards the construction of Shiroor bridge, in memory of his late father.

President of Shiroor gram panchayat, Ram A Mesta, presided. Taluk panchayat members, Raju Poojary, former zilla panchayat member, Madan Kumar, former taluk panchayat members, S M Sayeed, Alvegadde Narayan, and H S Siddique, also spoke on the occasion.

Shiroor Rural Congress Committee president, Raveendra Shetty Patelaramane, welcomed. Arunkumar Shiroor presented the programme.
