Doha, Jun 19: The Goan community in Doha, Qatar is all set to organise the Goan monsoon festival at the Doha Goans Sports Club on Thursday June 20.
It is that time of the year when Goa is at its finest, when nature flourishes, flowers bloom and trees blossom. The rains bring with it hope for the future and cleansing refreshment, filling the air with joy and romance. The scent of tradition is rich in the air and Goans celebrate the rains through many traditional festivals.
The Feast of Sao Joao reveals the fun and courage possessed by young men when they jump into the overflowing village wells and rivers to retrieve bottles of local prized content. The bonderam flag festival in Divar, shows the playful side of the locals.
Keeping up with the Goan tradition of celebrating the arrival of the monsoon season, the Doha Goan Sports Club is organizing, for the first time in Doha, the Goan Monsoon Festival 2013, at the Grand Regal Hotel.
Commencing at 8 pm., the evening promises to be one to remember. This gala dinner and musical evening will have a live band, the dynamic duo, Aggie and Joyce. Also playing the latest party music will be a top Goan music mixer “DJ Venky” specially flown in from Goa for the occasion. Setting the right mood for the evening with their magical voices are emcees Johnny and Aarti. Novelties and prizes will flow as the evening progresses.

During the event, the club will felicitate students, of Goan origin, who have excelled in their recent X and XII examinations. The first and second student from each Std. X & XII will be felicitated judging on their overall percentage. Qualifying students are kindly requested to submit their nominations with mark sheet along with correct address, mobile/telephone Nos.
