Mangalore, Jun 21: “It is our duty to help our children aim for better education such as the  IAS, IPS degrees; so that our children  will lead in administrative posts. Engineering  or a  medical degree should not be the only targets” said chief guest Karnataka state Urban development minister Vinay Kumar Sorake .

He was speaking at a programme organized by Yuva Vedike youth forum on June 16 at the Town hall, Mangalore.

“Brahmashree  Narayana guru and  Kotichennayya are  like two eyes for our  community.  We should be proud to be Billavas and help the backward caste people.

Inaugurating a function organized for the purpose of handing over Brahmashree gold medal, distribution of educational equipments to adopted school children, and felicitation of achievers with remarkable achievements to their credit, Beltangady MLA, Vasanth Bangera, praised Yuva Vedike youth forum for the services it has been rendering to the society since the last 13 years.

"The youth activists of the  Vedike, which has adopted ‘awareness through education’ as its main motto, have been doing commendable work for the people of four districts, Dakshina Kannada, Kasargod, Udupi, and Chikmagalur," he observed.

“We should support these youth so that our community can progress from their activities,” he said.

Rama Ksethra  Swamiji, Brahmananda Saraswathi Swamiji  blessed  the occasion and pleaded the youth  to be educated  and maintain the family ties. 

Kum Nishmitha Barke won the Brahmashree gold medal for scoring 611(98%) in the SSLC examination.  Shreyank Kotian  who scored  607 and having multi talent  was also honoured  on the occasion.  CET rank holders  Varun Venkatesh (6th rank) and Sayeeksha Kotekar (8th rank) were felicitated.   

Bardila Nagesh Poojary, retired head master was honoured  with the Guru Vandana.  Four athletes were also felicitated at the function. 

Vishal Amin for power lifing, Nesar Amin for karate, Kushi Rani for skating and Vaisnavi  for athletics.

Scholarships were distributed to 50 students. School stationeries were also distributed to 150 needy students from various castes.

The creators of Koti Chennaya circle 'Neelaya M Agary', MS Kotian and Sudhakar Karkers were  also  felicitated  by the members of Yuva Vedike youth forum. Karkala MLA Sunil Kumar released  the special bulletin 'Brahmashree' on the occasion.

Mohiuddin Bava ,MLA; Praveen kumar, businessman; Shakil Uchil HR fourmans group;  Neelay M agary (convenor) and Shivaraj (president) Sampoornavathiamma (sponsors of bangaradha padhaka) were also on the dais.

Neelay M  Agary  welcomed the gathering, M S  Kotian  briefed about Narayana guru Yuva vedhike, Devadas delivered the vote of thanks and Rohith Ullal compared the programme.  A cultural programme also followed.
