Mangalore, Jun 25: The students of Government Women’s College in Balmatta under the banner of ABVP protested at Jyothi circle on Tuesday June 25 demanding immediate appointment of lecturers in government pre-university colleges.

The students then took a protest march till DC's office and submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner.

"Mangalore University is first in the state to announce the results and begin classes. It has been 12 days since classes began but still there are no permanent lecturers in government colleges. Earlier classes were conducted by guest lecturers but this year as the appointment of guest lecturers in the state is done through online submission of applications, even that is pending," they said.

As lecturers have not been appointed, students coming from faraway places find it difficult as no classes are being conducted. Hence the students led by ABVP protested demanded the state government to soon appoint lecturers.

The memorandum stated the following demands:

- Appointment of permanent lecturers soon
- Classes should be conducted by guest lecturers until permanent lecturers are appointed
- Grant of necessary infrastructure to government PU colleges

Ramesh K, ABVP state secretary, Yathish Kumar, city secretary, Rakshitha, Kalavathi and Shubha from Balmatta Women’s College among others were part of the protest.

ABVP came to know that there were no permanent lecturers in Govt. Colleges only after the New Govt. came to power...!!!?
They were not at all bothered that there were no permanent lecturers and needed better infrastructure all these previous 5 years.
They have suddenly woken up with their masters (lost) voice, with demands. (may be the useless previous H\E Minister is behind this)
I am certain the new Govt. will surely look into the matter, not because of them. If such need is there and that need should be notified by the authorities of each Govt. College in the State to the Govt.
Let the ABVP ask the principals of those Govt. colleges to do the needful.
There is no need to do what they are doing right now - they are disturbing the peace. Govt. should warn them or take action against them.
What was the previous government's H\E minister was doing - SLEEPING SOMEWHERE IN RESORTS!!!?

It seems that ABVP woke up just now just becasue there is a Congress Govt now. It is like the devil quoting the scriptures! We would have apprecaited them if they had this grand postest during BJP rule! However, the present Govt should appoint the lecturers now and show to the perople that they are far better than BJP.

I am not a supporter of any parties... until u ppl dont stop disgracing the against parties, there will be no peace nor any development of the society. Its shame on all the educated individuals for not being united. If there is unity there could be peace, then it would be easy to face any issues of the society with mutual understanding and support. In our country Politicians are dramaticians and public are the viewers. If this continues U can guess how the future would be.... so instead of blaming each others, act unitedly against a cause to develop our society...... and not for the political Fame or the party Fame... wake up guys :)

Guddeg gudde adda. All knows abvp is wing of bjp. Hence no one will care considering it is political stunt. If you want to see the result fight as common man. Leaders will listen. Shun these orange flags. Abvp is not interested on cause. It is interested in publicity. Sometimes I thing they are doing injustice to swami vivekananda.

ABVP is fighting for one of the right causes. If you find the cause is right, support them. Otherwise, just keep quite rather questioning their right to protest or timing. Beware... politicians are the final winners if the society is divided.

    @Avinash/kasargod,

It is a broader form of argument than deductive reasoning, which only examines whether a conclusion is a consequence of premises, and factual argument, which only examines what is or is not the case, or rhetoric, which is a technique of persuasion.

    Don't take it as negative.

People who are calling this as BJP sponsored protests:

Please see the pictures carefully. Muslims, Christians students are also there in the protests. Students are worried about their classes, studies, exams and career. They are not concerned about which political party is ruling they are least bothered about it.

Don't give political colors to everything. Shortage of lectures in Govt institutions is a common problem since years. But this time it has gone out of control since many got retired in the last academic year. Previous higher education minister had already initiated recruitment 8000 plus lecturers. Current minister should have taken this on war footing. 30 days are enough to recruit lecturers that includes entrance test and appointment.

Dinesh Poojary-For your poor knowledge i will inform you.Under BJP rule for the past 5 years Guest Lectureres are supposed to work from June 15 to July 15 without salary for one month.Rest 7 months they are supposed to work without being paid salary every month and their salary is cleared once the year is completed.Guest lectureres are promised 10000 salary but are paid only 8000 and the rest Rs 2000 per guest lecturer is being pocketed by BJP MLA.Now Mr Deshpande after assuming charge has paid all the salary of guest faculty which was not paid by the BJP Kalla Govt. Now new rule for appointment of guest lecturers is being published in the news paper and appointment is based on the application made online. This process will be completed by July 15Th.Students are facing problems because of the past mistake committed by BJP Govt.It was only interested in safronising the books and not concerned either with teachers or with students.

    Dinesh Poojary,
In fact, it was you who were giving political colour for everything.
Secondly, just because there are Muslim and Christian students in the protest rally, it need not mean that it is not BJP-sponsored. There are Muslims and Christians in the BJP. Moreover, by mentioning the religions you are giving it a religious colour.
Further, if it is a need of the lecturers why one needs to protest on the roads? Isn't it for getting political mileage out of the entire episode?

    Mr. Dinesh Poojary

To recruit lecturer it takes lot of process. For the any government lot of steps has to be taken. They have to publish in Gazette, Advertise, Scrutinize, maintain the reservation and so on. It takes almost six months to one year to finish all the formalities. It is not like going to market and purchase vegetables. The recent recruitment s are stalled because someone has approached the high court for a stay. Demonstrations are just a new sense or political gimmick nothing will be done soon till all process are cleared. Court will not vacate the stay just because demonstration.
The congress Government came to existing in second week of May. The education secretariat in Bangalore will take its own time to finish formalities. Just commenting on the internet will not solve the problem. Was the previous government was sleeping for 5 years?

The last time a big ABVP rally was seen on road for a ‘rape and muder’ of a girl in Belthangadi, but the results were zero. The teacher shortage problem was there for many years and the last five years ABVP was not interested to raise this issue. They act and play as per guidelines of RSS agenda and not interested to take initiative on students related problems. The education minister has already announced the steps to appoint government teachers all over the state hence the ABVP should approach the education ministry.
