Kundapur, Jun 26: The entire stretch of coastal Karnataka was battered by heavy rain coupled with speeding wind on the night of Sunday June 23.

A huge tree standing on Chikkensal Road in the town got uprooted due to strong wind.

After the road fell across the road, movement of people and vehicles came to a standstill.

A building housing three shops, owned by Chandrashekhar Sherugar, suffered damage of about Rs 50,000.

As the tree fell across live wire, two electric poles crashed to the ground. A nearby transformer was also damaged.

Mescom officials have estimated damage due to the snapping of electric poles at Rs 1,50,000.
