Kundapur, Jun 28: At a time when demand for providing rare breeds of turtle that are moving towards extinction is gaining ground, a three-legged turtle was found from the seashore at Padukere in the taluk on Wednesday June 26.

A local named Ratnakar Shriyan had visited the seashore, when he came across an injured sea turtle with three legs, struggling on the beach.

With the help of a local person, Krishna Poojary, necessary treatment was given to the turtle before releasing it back into the Arabian Sea.

The turtle, which weighed around 10 kg, was found to be not having the left front leg. It survived with just one front leg, and two hind legs.

It is suspected that its injury was caused by a fish biting on its skull region.
