Kasargod: Hubby makes marriage a hobby, wife gets him arrested

Kasargod, Jun 30: A man who cheated by marrying more than six times was arrested by police on Saturday June 29.

The arrested is identified as N K Ashraf (38) from Nadapura. He is accused of marrying six women in various places like Kumble, Puttige, Kohzikode, Nadapura, Kanhangad and others.

He was arrested as per the complaint filed by a woman from Kadpura in Kanhangad. It is said that Ashraf kept his two earlier weddings a secret and married her.

In 2005, he married the Kanhangad woman from whom he has one child. Ashraf said that he had lost his parents and hence was living in his wife’s place. He later left for Gulf.

After he back from the Gulf, he again married three more women from Nadapura, Kohzikode and Puttige, without the knowledge of his other three wives. However, the Kanhangad woman came to know of his deeds later.

The woman in her complaint stated that she had given huge quantity of gold and several lacs of rupees as a dowry. The family members of the woman called Ashraf to their house and informed police at the same time, and thus he was arrested.
