Bangalore, Jul 3: JD(S) State President and Opposition Leader in the Karnataka Assembly H D Kumaraswamy has dubbed the State Government headed Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as a ''coalition of the Janata Parivar’s A team and original Congressmen.”

The former chief minister said the very fact that the AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh, the newly appointed party in-charge for the State, has publicly emphasized the need for a coordination committee between the State Congress and the Government suggested that even the party’s Central leadership conceded that the Siddaramaiah team was ''nothing but a coalition regime.”

Referring to Digvijay Singh’s statement about forming a committee to coordinate between the government and the party, Kumaraswamy said such committees were normally formed only during the tenure of coalition regimes in order to ensure coordination between the government and the different coalition partners.
 
Speaking at a Meet the Press organised by Bangalore Reporters Guild and Press Club of Bangalore Kumaraswamy said the Congress  Central leadership must have felt the need for a coordination between the Chief Minister and his cabinet colleagues.

The JD(S) State President said the Siddaramaiah government has proved its inability to take firm decisions on any issue judging by the various flip-flops of the government on different issues.

“Normally, six months’ grace period is offered to a new government by which time the opposition parties could point out loopholes in the administration. However, this government has provided enough ammunition to us within just one month of coming to power,” Kumaraswamy said.

Kumaraswamy said the JD(S) would spare no efforts in putting the Congress government on the mat during the forthcoming budget session of the State legislature.

''We are determined to play the role of being a constructive opposition,” he said making it clear that the party would definitely take the government to task on policy issues as there can be no compromise in protecting the interests of the State and its people, especially the farmers and people of rural areas.
