Mangalore, Jul 4: Among the many accidents that place on city roads and highways, most happen due to one reason - not following traffic rules.

In an accident that brought to light the hazards of talking on mobile phone while driving, a car almost fell into a drain even as its driver was busy on phone.

The accident occured on Thursday July 4 near Pumpwell when the driver of the Maruti Ritz car was about to park the vehicle outside a private hospital.

The driver was reportedly trying to steer the car with one hand, while his other hand was holding the phone. The car went out of control and veered off to the left, eventually moving over a drain.

There were three other passengers in the car, and together, they moved the car out. No one was hurt in the incident. Luckily, the car stopped at the right spot, as the damage would have been worse if the car had moved further.

I agree to Mr.Arnold's comment.. surprised that no one blamed the congerss Govt for the bad roads or any other mistake... Take a look at the road just after Hi-Spirits Wines in Bendoor Junction just before A.J. Shetty's house which is at least 10 feet deep.. BJP was in power at that time..ANY COMMENTS????

Not only the car driver but the two wheeler drivers also talk on mobiles in heavy traffic areas. Even while pasing the signal centres they tlk on their mobiles and though there is rule to book them police are not taking any interest to to book cases. Thats why all who drive their vehicle use their mobile without any fear. The Police Commissioner should issue strict instructions to the traffic police wing to stop this talking on mobile business.

If call is important, get smart... Start using Bluetooth or ear phones. Don't start doing Kusthi with your one hand and risk others lives.

I have seen bike and scooter riders texting messages while on move. These guys themselves at risk and endangering life of other motorists and pedestrians. Hope RTO will take note of such traffic offenders.

Talking on mobile during driving is a serious crime. That is why so many photos, so that other car owners can learn some lessons from these photos.
Yes, if these car drivers themselves suffer some casualty it is ok, because it is his own fault. But if he kills some innocent pedestrians it is a very big crime. To press this point this so many pictures are required.

Talking on mobile phones while driving, either two, three or four wheeler should be banned. The urgent calls to be attended by parking the vehicles at a side.In this instance, suppose the car was damaged can be very well repaired .Insurance can be claimed. But the life lost can never be replaced. The drivers should remember, they have the responsibility of other passengers too.

Sure this accident is not due to mobile, by looking at the pics its clear that driver must b trying to escape the potholes on the road...over that theres no safety wall near that drain...its left open n it looks like a clear mud road frm the drivers seat

Now, it seems that mobile is not a facility for people...People are only for mobile... Everywhere you find people talking on mobile even when crossing the road, while driving, riding.....
